Belle doesn't add NFC support to a phone which doesn't have NFC hardware.

The C6-01 will also never have NFC support.
NFC requires a specific chip (hardware) to be in the phone. So a phone that doesn't have this hardware, can never receive NFC through software updates.

Symbian Anna supports running all apps for Symbian Anna, also all apps for Symbian^3, as well as most, if not all, apps for Symbian 9.4/S60 5th Edition, as well as probably some apps for S60 3rd Edition. Symbian Anna also runs most of the Java apps available for Nokia phones, as well as Flash Lite apps and web run-time apps, etc.
Symbian Anna phones probably run also 99% of any "Symbian Belle" apps, too.
Did you have some specific apps in mind, which only run on "Symbian Belle"? If so, which apps (can't be very many such apps)?

Updating 500 to Symbian Belle hasn't yield a tremendous change.

Well the Nokia "Store" seems to think that the Nokia 500 has "NFC SUPPORT"... Please take a look at this link:
It clearly states there the folllowing:
- "Simply perform the NFC handshake with another Nokia 500, 600 or 700 to unlock content."
So I don't know if whoever posted it up was trying to mislead people who own the Nokia 500 into buying their application and make them think that the software will "enable" NFC on the device.... Or just a "typo"?
It probably was a marketing strategy..... "me thinks"...
