This situation seems to have been the same for a while - but from Canada, it is STILL impossible to buy any application. All that is visible in the OVI store are free applications. I cannot figure out what kind of issue there can be, it cannot be that complex to process payments... unless it's somekind of deal with rogers or bell....
Erik.

Nokia REALLY needs to fix this, or atleast have a representative address the issue of why they cannot let us purchase apps.

Hmm, I checked and at seems that this is the case.
There used to be. I'll send this to relevant people.

I've investigated this issue by means of my various industry contacts and what I understand is that there is simply no agreement in place to bill customers in Canada. The only timeframe I hear is "soon" or "next release" or vague things like that.
I've come up against this too and it's very frustrating. Where possible, I've made app purchases directly from the software vendor or from competing stores because Ovi wouldn't let me. For apps that do not have any such option, it's tough luck for the consumer. Here's to hoping that Nokia will get the contracts in place ASAP.

PAID APPS IN THE OVISTORE!
Atleast from my N900, not sure about the 5800 yet!

Literally the day after I posted above I checked the store and it said it was being maintained... Then paid apps on my E71! ![]()
Still a few bugs to get over, like for example the fact that I've got a demo of an app for which I still can't buy the full version because apparently my device is not supported, go figure. I've tried out a couple other paid apps with success, though. Great to see Ovi Store coming together!
Now they just need to improve the search. Protip, Nokia, make the search work like this:
like '%query%'
Not like this:
like 'query%'
