Lumia 800 connection to marketplace

I was using a friends WIFI yesterday and i got home and tried to download an app. However i can not seem to be able to connect, it executes the program and the transition to the market place occurs but then my phone reverts back to the start menu... I am unsure whether it is due to my internet connection, whether i have turned a setting off or ran over my tariff? This applies to my Xbox live aswell and Zune. How can I fix this if it is a setting problem?
