CDC Comms Interface Drivers

I have an E90 Communicator, which I use to connect to the internet on my PC via a USB cable. It all worked fine with XP, but after upgrading to Vista, I am unable to connect. The latest version of PC suite says that there is no modem found, and Vista keeps asking for CDC Comms Interface drivers, which I cannot locate. I have tried everything I know - using the version of PC suite that worked with XP, uninstalling and reinstalling... etc.

The handset is seen by XP, I can do everything except connect to the net.

Please can someone help me before I have a mini-meltdown?

Re: CDC Comms Interface Drivers

I also have a proble with my N95 connecting to the net. the problem started when I upgraded from the 6.85 to the 6.86.9 version.

I can basically to everything with my USB connection except connect to the net. The funny thing is that my bluetooth connection work quite well, but I still prefer the speed of the USB connection.

Is there a way to get around this problem?

Re: CDC Comms Interface Drivers

kay. With no response yet from nokia, I fiddled until I got it right.

The problem lies with the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver, in the 6.86.x.x PC Suite.

Do this:

1. Download the following files from the Nokia Website:

NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_en
Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_rel_6_85_10_0_eng

2. Run NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_en
3. Restart
4. Install PC Suite.
5. Restart.
6. Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features.
7. Uninstall the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver.
8. Run Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_rel_6_85_10_0_eng (that you downloaded. Even if this file is an older version, use it anyway.)

All good...?

Re: CDC Comms Interface Drivers

Hi
The problem is that the modem and CDC cannot be installed if the phone is connected before rebooting the PC. Please just update the driver from here:
http://europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,81914,00.html

reboot PC and then connect a phone. Everything should work now.

Re: CDC Comms Interface Drivers

Hi, I'm sorry if I do mistakes - I'm Polish :smileyhappy:. I have a Nokia 6120. I had the same problem, after update to 6.86 version. Previous version worked properly.
I solved this problem (at least on my Windows XP)
Do this:
1. Uninstall all Nokia Software (Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver and PC Suite)
2. Restart
3. Download newest Nokia PC Suite from: http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905
4. Download the old version of Cable Driver from: http://rapidshare.com/files/108946848/Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_rel_6_85_10_0_eng.msi.html
5. Install PC Suite (don't connect phone)
6. Restart
7. Close all PC Suite programs (e.g. Nokia Synchro, PC Suite)
8. Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
9. Uninstall Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
10. Restart
11. Install old version of Cable Driver you downloaded
12. Now connect phone to PC
13. Everything should work now.

Again sorry if I do mistakes. I hope you understand I'm Polish.

Re: CDC Comms Interface Drivers

grezur,
You are the Man!
I was desperate when I decided to try your method. Nokia Support is useless in this regard. I've saved your instructions on my desktop. This is as a precaution in case some Nokia software overwrites the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver--It happens a lot with newer PC & Ovi Suite versions.
I have Vista installed and your method still applies to my Nokia N82 Black Edition (Yes, it's an old phone but it still works like a dream).
Thanks again, grezur, you saved a lot of people's sanity.
Best regards from,
A grezur fan!

Re: N8 - CDC Comms Interface Drivers

This is really dissapointing. I  almost feel sorry for you guys. This issue was first raised in 2008, and has not been fixed yet. Nokia Just does not care. I actually don't regret dumping Symbian for WinMO and then moving on to  Android.
