Having just obtained a 6230, I'm trying to use PC Suite and do not know how to change its mode. I'm running version 6.8 with windows XP via a USB cable. Can anyone please direct me to where I find out how to change the phone to different modes. At present PC Suite says I must change from "File Transfer" mode - HOW!!

Just to check, are you really using Nokia 6230 or Nokia 6230i, because there is a difference between them, 6230i is the model that has 2 modes in USB usage, the PC Suite mode and mass storage mode that allows you to view the memory card content from PC.

The USB mode question should pop up in phone screen when you connect the phone to PC, but if you get this strange message in PC when using Nokia 6230, there might be something wrong with the USB driver installation.

I can try to help you further, but please confirm the Nokia phone model first.

Hi Parsley, I'm guessing it's a 6230i that you've got... if so, whenever you connect the cable to the phone you should get a message saying something like "Use as mass storage device" - you need to REJECT this message if you want to use PC Suite. If you accept this message, your memory card will appear in your My Computer as another hard drive.

If it is a 6230 though, sounds to me like it's not working as it should... unless it's a non-Nokia cable or something.

Can you answer another question please. Is it possible to upload digital images from my PC to the phone to use as wallpaper? (And if so - how!!)

To transfer files to the phone, use the file manager in PC Suite. If you want to use an image as a wallpaper, you'll need to make sure it's the correct pixel size... 128 x 128 pixels.
