Install went fine.

Click on Get connected
Click next
select cable connection, Next
attach phone to cable (the one supplied in box)
it then stays on the same screen with an hourglass until I hit back or cancel.

Infrared connection works fine and I'm able to sync.

have you tried another USB port in your PC (do not use hubs)?
Do you get the windows "found new hardware pop up" in your PC?
Do yo select the right SUB mode from your phone when you connect the cable to it ? (PC Suite mode needs to be selected)
If you don't get any USB mode pop up in your phone, try to reset the phone with
- "battery out for a moment - boot"
- reset phone with *#7370# code (type that to you phone)

Yes on all USB ports with no hubs

No, this is the part I think is the problem.

If you don't get any USB mode pop up in your phone, try to reset the phone with

Tried this and it didn't solve the problem. I tried installing and reinstalling. With 6.7 and 6.8 (each time using the cleaner tool from Nokia)

Yes, it maybe a cable problem, seems strange that there is no reaction in phone nor in PC. But it is difficult to be sure. Best would be if you can loan a similar cable and try that, or if you can attach the phone+cable to another PC (the PC does not have to have PC Suite installed, the most important thing is to get the PC and the phone to react to each other, you can cancel the connection after you discover does the phone react to PC or not)
On the other hand, if can be the phone also, if it does not react to cable. Difficult to say.

Did anything appear on your phone screen such as 'data enhancement connected'?

I've tried using the cable and phone on a different PC that has nothing installed and there was no reaction whatsoever. I'm hoping that it's the cable and not the phone at this point.

So far, I've been able to sync using Ir and Bluetooth, just not the cable. Would it help if I used the PC Suite from the CD that the box came with instead of using the latest from the Nokia site?

ikkoku, do you get some reaction in phone screen when you connect the cable to phone and other end to PC ? That is an important question to answer and I cannot read from your answers for sure is that the case.

If it is, then I would uninstall the current PC Suite 6.81 AND also uninstall from control panel - add/remoce programs the PC Connectivity Solution and Connectivity Cable driver, boot PC and then go to the CD version.

If you get that working with your phone, please tell us.

no .. there's no reaction in the phone screen.

I'll try the uninstall/reinstall from CD again and see if that'll help.

If you have the possibility to take the phone and cable and attach those to ANY PC (the PC does not have to have PC Suite or anything from Nokia installed), you can test that does the question about the usb mode pop up in your phones screen. If that should happen, then there might be something not working properly in your own PC.

If the phone is even then silent, just go to the shop where you bought it and ask them to fix this. (problem may be in phone or cable)

yeah I tried on another pc and nothing happened. I just ordered a cable and hope that it's the cable and not the phone. I'm in the US and there's no way the shop will take care of me.

I have the exact same problem. I first got a normal cable (not nokia) and it didn't work and I found a charging connectivity cable (CA-70) cable to use since CA-42 isn't available here.
I installed the PC suite from the Nokia website and it went fine and then I try connecting and it tells me to connect the phone with the pc and it just stays on that page.
Nothing pops on my phone at all, but it does say that hardware is detected but it says that its "unrecognised".

How do u do that? can i do it before actually connecting the phone to the pc?

PLEASE Ghada, you are not even mentioning what Nokia phone you are using (for sure, if you have a phone that works with CA-42, it will NOT work with CA-70) and all in all, just impossible to say anythinbg reasonable when you donät mentioning your phone type.

Nokia PC Suite supports more than 200 Nokia models and they all are somewhat different so it is essential to tell the phone model

ok im not that stupid that I didnt check the compatibility. I have a Nokia 6101 and its compatible with CA-42 and when I went to the shop they told me that the CA-70 would also work with my phone.

My E55  suddenly stopped detecting the USB connection from  windows.

The suggestion of removing battery for a while worked for me.

It became normal after restart. NO need to reset using *xxxx#

Hi czarofconsoles, please download and install Nokia Suite 3.7.22 from www.nokia.com/nokiasuite that works with your phone.

What do you mean by "unable to accept connection request"? Are you using Bluetooth? Can you use USB cable?
