Hi r_ock453,
More information about your pc, phone(dial *#0000#) and your pc suite version could help our experts to narrow down your issue further

It seems that I have found the cause for this troubles. I have deinstalled the Windows Mediaplayer 11 and installed Windows Mediaplayer 10. After that it works fine on my Windows XP PC.
But this solution is not possible for my Windows Vista PC because Windows Mediaplayer 11 is fixed installed in Vista.

Hello
I am happily connecting my 5800 to my XP laptop using pc suite.
I am also failing to connect in mtp mode. It just keeps looping on the found new mtp device prompt
My girlfriend has the N96 and this happily connects in mtp mode.
I would suggest that this means problem is specifc to 5800 not wmp or xp fault.
I have already reloaded mtp without it solving this.
Any suggestions to make this work?
Can you provide windows xp mtp drivers for the nokia 5800

Same problem here. MTP alert keeps popping up every 3-4 seconds, eventually XP tries to install a driver and fails. Only happens in PC Connect mode; USB mode works fine.

Using Windows XP with latest SP updates.
As suggested above, I rolled back Windows Media Player from 11 to 10. After that, it would recognize the device, but during software update it kept unmounting/remounting the device, and firmware update failed repeatedly. Fortunately, it did not bork my phone. But it did not update the firmware either.

Hello,
I have some news. The problem depends on the storage card. If you remove the storage card the MTP driver will be successfully installed!
Try out and tell me your experiences :-)

Hi Dale
I will try that out tonight.
I have emailed Nokia who haven't really engaged with admitting a fault yet. Update software blah blah blah -- it is up to date, there is a problem with your product.
I'll let you know if it works for me or if Nokia suggest anything new.

Hi all,
I got the exact same issue. I tried to remove the memory card but it didn' work.
I found the solution in another thread on this forum:
/discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&messag
Change into the registry this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PC Connectivity Solution\Configurations\Nokia]
The parameter: "WPDEnabled"=dword:00000001 by "WPDEnabled"=dword:00000000
and it worked.... :-)

Parameter change did not have desired effect for me.
I have provided software versions to Nokia who say they are passing to technical team.
I will update here if solution ever appears.
Nokia could just provide a proper way to work with Itunes and maybe I wouldn't care about this anymore...

I have removed the SD card and formatted it. After that it works fine.
I have recognized that Windows creates a file on the SD card.
Maybe there was a write protection or something like that. But now it seems to be solved.
Good luck :-)

Dale
You rule!
I deleted phone in device manager.
Removed SD card and replugged phone into laptop.
Finally recognised as MTP device, confirmed by lovely phone icon appearing in Windows Explorer.
Replaced SD card but the Salling Media Sync software would not read the card, only seeing the phone memory.
Formatted the card and then finally I can use Nokia 5800 in MTP mode and allow sync software to read both memories.
Problem is somehow linked to the SD card which I'll relay to Nokia, shame they didn't suggest that a few weeks ago.
Thanks for your help. I can now propely use Nokia 5800 with Itunes playlists.
Hooray

r_ock453,
Try turning off any Firewall program you have running like "ZoneAlarm" that worked for the same problem with me.

Dale1982,
Microsoft does have an official Windows Vista Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/d5r9v3. It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assistance and feedback.
