@4477

What Java application are you trying to use on your 6280 and do you have .jar and .jad available for it?

Re: App Error - Null Pointer

I am using a Nokia C3-01.  When I try to access my emails I get the message 'appliction error'.  When I go into details I get: Null Pointer java/lang/NullPointer Exception.  What is that about and how do I access my email account?

Re: App Error - Null Pointer

The C3 is a series 40 phone, so the email program may be written entirely in Java.  I'm not sure.  I'm also not sure if you can update the C3's firmware as easily as you can with Symbian phones.  I am reasonably certain that you are experiencing a bug, and nothing short of updated firmware or bringing this problem to Nokia's attention (so they can release updated firmware) is going to fix it.  There could be a workaround somewhere, but I would need a C3-01 of my own to experiment with.  My advice is that you contact Nokia's support department.

Re: App Error - Null Pointer

I have a Nokia X2-01, when I try to access my ovi.com email account using the Nokia email app that came on the phone, I get the application error: Null Pointer java/lang/NullPointerException

How do I correct this problem? I used to be able to check my email using this app. Now I get a constant email notification on my screen.

I can check my email on the web using my phone and the Opera Mini browser.

Note: No software updates are available for this phone at this time.

Re: Nokia C3-01 email application error

I too have had this problem on a C3-01 but have eventually found a fix:

  • Backup the phone via PC Suite but EXCLUDE the phone settings. I suggest for speed you also exclude the memory card and bookmarks options.
  • Perform a hard reset by keying " *#7370#" followed by phone security code, which will be "12345" if you have not changed it.
  • Phone will revert to Factory Settings. All your data will have been wiped.
  • Connect phone to PC Suite and perform a Restore.
  • All your data except the settings will be re-installed. You can now re-setup your email.

If you include the settings in the backup you will introduce the same problem. I know I did twice!

Re: Nokia C3-01 email application error

This solution has worked for me. Beforehand when this error message came up I had to do a 'factory reset' on the phone and lost all my settings. I opened a Gmail account and added it along with my Yahoo account on the phone. When the 'application error' came up, I sent an email from Gmail to Yahoo and both times it has cleared the problem.

Re: App Error - Null Pointer

The 'solution' I posted earlier stopped working but there is a workaround. Make a new bookmark http://yahoo.mail.co.uk and sign in through that. A couple of more button presses and no notification of new mail but at leeast you dont have to reset the phone every time.
