Happy to help, Martin. Yes, it's a shame Nokia didn't make it work out of the box -- and I'm still hoping it might somehow work on WEP encrypted networks too. (As for the screenname -- arbitrarily chosen. Don't think there are another 73 harrys. are there?)

I've applied that brilliant workaround on my 9300i, and it works a treat.

I'm also using it on a WEP encrypted wireless network and it seems to be just fine? No particular issues with it and processor usage anyway (just the usual rubbish about network connectivity and buffering that seem to play ALL real players I've ever used...)

Thanks for posting that info, henley. I'll try again on my office WEP network. (When I've tried it there before it has looked like it's going to work, getting as far as buffering but then given up after about 30 seconds with an error message.)

One other point to note: the workaround only works for URLs that end in .ram. Going back to the BBC example, some of the World Service URLs (e.g. Newshour, the World Today) end in .rpm. You can get round this by simply amending the URL when you enter it in your 9300i.

E.g. the Newshour URL is www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/shows/rpms/wservice/newshour2000.rpm
If you enter that into your phone, it generates an error message. But simply replacing the .rpm with .ram will work (i.e. www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/shows/rpms/wservice/newshour2000.ram).

As far as I can tell, .rpm and .ram files are the same, but .rpm tries to play a file in an embedded player (which, as state above, the Nokia 9300i can't do) and .ram launches the Realplayer application.

Got this to work with my N80 via T-mobile web n walk. But not via my wireless network at home (!)

Incidentally - roughly how much data a minute would listening to the radio over GPRS correspond to ?

Thanks

Internet Radio for Symbian not working -Has it been discontinued?

[ Edited ]

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me why the following link does not work on my N95 in Nokia Internet Radio? It is the link to a German radio station

http://streams.br-online.de/bayern3_1.m3u

The link does work on my computer, but not on my Nokia.

Thanks

W.

Because the nokia internet radio program only works with the stations that it lists. You cannot add other stations to the list or use it to play streams from elsewhere.

Sorry, but that is not so. I added a number of stations that do work, and furthermore why would the feature "Add station manually" exist if not for adding new stations?

Can the not funtioning of the link have to do with the operating system?

Thanks

W.

Sorry, I was muddled with a previous version. It doesn't support m3u streams.

There was a site for the internet radio that said what it did support but it seems to have disappeared.

Internet Radio for Symbian not working -Has it been discontinued?

[ Edited ]

Hi! I would like to run Nokia Internet Radio on my Nokia 5800. Any chance to do so? I installed the application but it does not work. Any trick I could use? Any alternative software?

Best,
Marco

This is a huge miss in my opinion too.

I hope this will come out for 5800XM in the next month.

Internet Radio is one of the better applications Nokia has produced and a god send if you have flat data rate.

Re: Internet Radio on 5800XM

I hear you. I do not get it. Nokia really seems to have their collective heads up their collective butts. Anyway, there is an application called Jukebox from LonelyCatGames at: www.lonelycatgames.com. It sort of works for the 5800Xm but not completely.

Haven't used internet radio much, but its a damn nice little application.

Not totally surprised it isn't yet supported on the 5800 - it is a totally new platform, and Nokia no doubt have a fair amount of applications that they're busy migrating to the updated Touch OS.

Would go so far as saying that they have their heads up their collective butts though!

I recover to the orginal factory seting, it could not at the first time, after that, same problem happen, same error message.  By the way, my phone version would be 200.21.118.
