A much easier solution is to check for the latest firmware update avaialble for your device, either through the device itself or via Nokia Suite on your PC. The last generic firmware for the E72 was v91. I do recall that in subsequent updates of the E72 firmware, more RAM was made available.
Might also help to clear out your phone and re-install any applications etc, to give it a proper spring clean.
