Transfer Apps from SD card?

Hi folks,

So... the apps I recently downloaded installed themselves to my SD card. It filled up, so I got a new one. Now I've spent all morning trying to figure out how to transfer them from one SD card to the other (or from the SD card to the phone memory). And I can't figure it out.

I've just tried to re-install them... but Ovi Store won't let me download the apps again... plus this'll send me over-cap on my plan. Which I'd rather not do.

I'm using an E71. :smileyhappy:

Any help would be appreciated,

~parad0xical.

Welcome to the forum!

I am assuming that you have already enabled "Show hidden & system files" on your PC, copy contents of smaller card to PC desktop and back on to larger card.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/hiddenfiles.mspx

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Show-hidden-files

Windows 7 - Open (My) Computer Press the Alt key > Click Tools > Folder Options…Click the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders, and uncheck Hide protected operating system files.

Although I have never experienced issues with a succession of larger memory cards, you could always create an image backup of the memory card using Drive Snapshot and then restore that to the new larger card.

I did exactly the same, transferring all files from original 2 GB microSD Card of C5-00 to a 16 GB microSD Card. I put 2 GB microSD card in card reader, copied content to harddisk of my PC and copied it to the 16 GB microSD card.

But after that, all Java apps that have been originally installed on 2 GB microSD card are not shown anymore in program folder and also cannot be deinstalled, when 16 GBcard is in the phone.

Sometimes I even had the problem that all Java apps from the original 2 GB microSD card haven't been shown as well, when I removed 2 GB card and reinserted it (phone was switched of before, of course)

Restoring a backup on 2 GB microSD card has solved the problem, but restoring the same backup on 16 GB card didn't solve it.

The apps themself seem to be on 16 GB card, but they're not shown in programm folder, nor could the be deinstalled.

How to handle that?

"Show hidden & system files" was activated on my PC

Welcome to the forum!

You raise an interesting point although I have to say that almost exclusively I have copied data across from smaller to larger card using a Mac and can't remember such issue arising.
