Re: Uninstall apps from C5-03

Hello Daniel those files May be present in your phone's main memory. And that location is not accessed by the users. The files cannot be deleted. If you want to know More details then use This file manager named xplore. In This several drives will be shown and the drive z is your main memory where all the apps and games and tones are present. If the game is present in z you cannot remove it. Try and reply.

Hello,

I have this phone for few months and I recently I found that some of the apps are protected or can not be unistalled! In the Appl. mngr -> Installed app -> Bubble Bash ( a game) pressing for a few seconds I get uninstall option, but when I press it i get uninstallation not allowed! It is the same with the integrated facebook app, Friendster, Hi5, Twitter. Anyone knows how to delete them?

Hi,

First let me say that I can't understand why Nokia claims the right to prevent the owner of the phone managing it's contents, specially when it involves 3rd party applications that have to be paid after only one use and take up large amounts of a memory that is in itself small to begin with.

I found a way to delete the protected games (although their icons are kept in the games folder), and I suppose, with some search of the right folders, it can also be applied to other unwanted protected apps:

1- Download the free app x-plore (www.lonelycatgames.com also available on ovi store)
2- After installation, run it, and select menu, tools, configuration and mark the check box next to the first 4 options (show hidden files, ROM drives, RAM drives, system files/folders)

3- Press BACK and open C:\SYSTEM\DATA\MIDP2\PREINSTALL, delete it's contents (make sure to delete only the games you don´t want). All done!!!

I used this method on my C5-03 and everything runs smoothly, plus I gained over 5Mb of precious phone memory. Though, just to be sure, a complete backup prior to deletion ensures that any mistakes can always be unmade.

Quick question. What's the stupidty treshold for Nokia?

Nokia is one big troll, what is this idiocy of shipping preinstalled apps and not letting you uninstall them?! What a bunch...

Re: Uninstall apps from C5-03

I happened to find your post while looking for tips to uninstall unwanted "preinstalled" apps, and I'd like to thank you very much. X-PLORE works really well and I've now got rid of those silly games that took up so much space in C.

Thanks a lot!

Re: Uninstall apps from C5-03

Try and download it from Ovi Store. I wasn't able to download it directly but when I used Ovi Store, it was OK.

Re: Uninstall apps from C5-03

Say goodbye to all your apps. Make sure you have the installation files in memory card. Hard reset by holding call key green them volume up then lock key all together then hold the red end call key. Remember to remove battery and insert again before doing hard reset. To remove nokia apps like quickoffice download fw cleaner 3.0 works best.

Re: Uninstall apps from C5-03

Thank you so much for this explanation! I was able to download xplore via the link you posted (Nokia store didn't list it in any way, shape, or form on my phone). I was able to follow all your directions, until I got here:

C:\SYSTEM\DATA\MIDP2\PREINSTALL

I don't have a MIDP2 folder!

Within C:\SYSTEM\DATA\ I have: mobilesearch, quickoffice, sprf, a small list of little docs, dmgr, Eslms, temp, xmppui
Any ideas or suggestions as to what I should do?

Thanks in advance! :smileyhappy:
