WP8 data counter app

Is there any decent data counter application for WP8? Nokia had one for WP7.5 but in general this seems to be an under-served application segment. Since most carriers tend to package their data into consumable units instead of unlimited flat-rate I wonder why this is.

Re: WP8 data counter app

hi mate,

Nokia has not stated any plans for any data counter apps for the WP8 platform. Some network carriers have already implemented support for Data Sense, which is data counters for data downloading, phone calls, messages sent etc etc....but as in the Windows Phone 8 announcement by Microsoft, this is largely a network-carrier dependent feature....and as of yet it has only been made available by a finger-ful of network carriers in the USA.

Re: WP8 data counter app

Again, it is not MS. The app is available but your carrier has to support it for use on your phone.

I am on AT&T in the states and it is not available to me because of AT&T.

Re: WP8 data counter app

This has been my interest as well. I had checked manually in windowsphone store but could not find any. I hope MS will made an app for this in the near future. I can check the quota of my data package but it takes a lot of time. An app who shows total data usage would be much more saving time.

Re: WP8 data counter app

Microsoft has an app. It is Data Sense.

If it is not available to you read my post above.

It is not an MS decision if you have the ap or not.

Re: WP8 data counter app

It was MS decision to stop counter app in wp8. That's 100% sure. Because they want to take benefits of data sence thought carriers. And i don't see any other app for data mapping in store. Seriously MS and Nokia because of this you will lose your loyal customers. Stop playing with customers. And provide counters.app for wp8. We don't want any **bleep** app like data sence and what ever it is.

I have said this three times now. There is a Data Sense app from Microsoft. Your carrier has to make it available to you, not Microsoft. In the US the app is available for Verizon users, don't know of any others. Talk to your carrier if you want it.

I am on AT&T and it is not available to me.

Re: WP8 data counter app

I live in India, so i think one year down the line our operators will also bring the data sense to India so Ms and Nokia why you people are promoting your Lumia phones in India. Please sell u r phones only in us itself. Don't go to any other region. Nokia u made a mistake choosing MS. And know you will lose your customers also....... For every problem there should be solution but here i don't see any solutions.....

Re: WP8 data counter app

Garym114, data counter functionality is not carrier dependent feature. Only MS arrogance and stupidity is to blame for not providing data counter functionality in WP8. Android OS has it!! Data sense app is linked to data compression which is something carriers would have to implement. Fat chance. I don't care about that. I want data counter and it was MS stupid decision not to have one. There are many problems with the WP8. Like only one volume level for music playback and ring tone. So if I turn the volume down when I listen to music I later miss phone calls, cannot connect to Wifi which uses static IP, also the phone stops using WiFi without warning when it feels like it and starts using expensive mobile data. This can cost huge amount of money!!! of course you don't even know it is happening. Why? There is no data counter!!! Just wait for the $10000 roaming phone bill. Am leaving this "dumb" phone at home!!!

Am stuck with my Lumia 920 for 21 more months but if Microsoft does not get their act together am going Android or iOS. Nokia, it was wrong decision to go with MS.

Re: WP8 data counter app

Data counter is a basic feature which should be part of the os as in ios, Android, Symbian, BB10, bada and MeeGo. In those platforms there are also many 3rd party data counter apps. Why did Microsoft take an essential feature and make it carrier dependent? Why make users dependent on whether the carrier wants to distribute it or not? I thought MS is trying to gain market share. Go figure.
