While going through Ovi Store to get What's App for my friend's Nokia 603, I  read in the description that It uses either 3G or WiFi connection to message.

Does this mean that it doesn't work on 2G ?

It requires a data plan or WiFi access so in some regions could be GSM.

well if it says in the description that you need a 3G or WiFi data plan, then obviously 2G won't work will it?

It doesn't mention a 2G or 3G data plan

so what's the scenario Mario? are you asking this question for you and your phone, or for your friend's 603? obviously if they have downloaded the app and it is working, then you can double check if it works over 2G or 3G by changing this from UMTS to GSM in the network settings of the phone. GSM only refers to 2G, UMTS refers to 3G.

this is by far the easiest way to test if it works or not.

I'm asking for both the reasons coz i'm looking forward to buy 603 too.
Now i can't double check coz my friend don't use internet on mobile.

not sure how we can help you any further then unless someone chimes in with their experiences. otherwise, you will have to contact WhatsApp directly via their communication channels and ask them about it. sorry bud.

Hi there! I use whatsapp in my 808 with wifi/3g/2g without any problem.
