When I try to insert a fullstop; it shows a colon: Is this a software problem or hardware problem?

Did you try after pressing the extreme left key in the bottom row (Arrow pointing at at angle) ?

Yes, but that did not solve the problem. Thanks so far for replying. The phone was dropped, and the screen (LCD) was replaced. I'm thinking the new LCD is perhaps not 100 % compatible..

Was the display changed thru' Authorised Nokia Service  ? If so, you may get it inspected again .. 

To eliminate any doubts regarding the Software, you may check for availability of any update or in absense of that re-install the existing version thru' Nokia Suite .
