we as users of the asha 311 are very disappointed in this device given its capability of being able to accommodate very powerful quality apps like skype shazam amongst others. the nokia engineers should be able to fix such additions.....and also features such as video call..copy paste options..screen lock pattern instead of the common number keyguard lock...this phone can be the dopest of all if such additions are considered

Hello all, if you wish to see apps such as Skype and Shazam, you will have to contact the developers of those apps directly via their website / forums. Not sure if the hardware of the 311 is really up to scratch for it anyway.

As for the others, as this is a user to user forum only, you are always welcome to leave feedback by clickign the Nokia Support link at the bottom of this page.

It's true that e.g. Skype or Shazam are not available for Nokia Asha or other Series 40 phones at the moment.  Apart from those 2 apps is there any other specific type of app you are looking for?

Btw. regarding VoIP calls - it's seems that Asha 311 should support Nokia VoIP natively (http://www.nokia.com/global/products/phone/asha311/specifications -> VoIP calling mentioned), so there would not be necessarily a need to install additional app (like Skype).

 
but I can try check/verify how that works in practice.

Make an internet call:

Need to call abroad often? Use an internet call to save costs.

You can make and receive calls over the internet. Some internet call service providers allow free internet calls. To make or receive an internet call, you must be in the service area of a Wi-Fi or 3G network. You also need to have an account in an internet call service.

The phone wizard helps you set up your account in your phone. 

Set up your internet telephone account:

1. Select settings.
2. Select connectivity > internet telephone > CONNECT.
3. Follow the instructions shown on the phone.

When the wizard has finished, your account shows in the accounts list.

Call a contact:

1. Select contacts.
2. Select the contact and internet call.

Call a phone number:

Type in the phone number, then select > internet call.

sir i use 3g network for internet calling from (friendcaller) but now it is messanging that ''number busy'' i call from it again after the 5 minute but it is still messanging ''number busy'' , what should i have to do ???

sounds like something that you should report to your voip provider about
