i was trying make a new album in photo's menu so i can keep all my fav in one folder.
i copied pics from ALL to ALBUM's new folder and then deleted the same pics in ALL folder but automatically all the pics in new folder got deleted.
normally in all nokia phones this method works without any prob.
how will i get deleted pics back to my folder.?.
The N8 does not have a recycle bin as such so deleted files cannot be restored. You may have a copy on your pc if you have recently backed up or synched the phone.
It's true that there is no such Recle Bin function with the phone, but that doesn't mean you have deleted the pictures permanently. It should be still on the memory card of your phone(if you saved those picture there), and you need picture recovery program to get them recovered. Photo recovery software such as Wondershare Photo Recovery might help. Take the trial version first.
As a matter of fact, a single delete command won’t necessarily make data erased permanently from memory card(just like Shift Delete won't make the files deleted from computer). Those deleted pictures are still intact there on the card just marked as free space to be overwritten. If you keep saving more new files, the new files may occupy the space where your precious deleted photos stored.
So it is very important not save new files to your N8 phone before those pictures are recovered. You should be aware of that.
Sure you can try recovering the deleted data from the sd card using data recovery software but recovering data from flash memory is not the easiest and there is no guarantee. There is no data recovery option on your phone. Another option is to pay a data recovery specialist but again there is no guarantee. The bottom line is whether it is worth the recovery cost.
I see this discussion is a bit old, but for knowledge sharing etc... I just had exactly the same issue. My wife deleted some wedding photos taken at a friend's wedding last night in exactly the same way.
I recovered them from the phone memory as follows.
Downloaded Viaosoft Recovery Manager (it was free, just put it into google)
Plugged my wife's N8 into the USB port, and selected mass storage device
Opened the software, and went to the recovery tab
Clicked the option to recover all files, and also from zero sector
Clicked Go and waited for about ten minutes.
I recovered 95% of the photos complete, the other 5% were chunks, but at least I have 95% of the files, best of all it didn't cost anything!
You can retrieve the deleted files and photos from your Nokia N8 with the help of Kernel for FAT and NTFS, recover lost file software which will preview your lost data in scanning and if you want then you can recover them and save them to specific location. You can check the demo version of the software for the working phenomenon of the software.

I have installed the software. But when i plug in my N8 it does not ask for any Mass storage. And when i run the app.. it gives error Media Not Present.

Try take the memory card out of your Nokia phone and connect it to your PC via a card reader. Then rely on this photo recovery software (also recover videos and music) to get them recovered http://www.datarescuetools.com/photo-recovery.html
It should recover your files without problem. But you should take care and note that:
1. Before photo recovery, better stop using the device where your lost digital photos located.
2. You’d better not install the photo recovery program or save recovered files to the drive that you want to recover data from.

As a guide for the future, if you want to remove a photos from a particular album, find it in the album concerned, press and hold the image then select Remove from album, do not select Delete. The delete option is always acting on the original copy of the image and removes it from the device altogether.
Albums in Symbian phones are not folders, they are databases. This allows the possibility for photos to be included ion more than one album without having multiple copies of the same file occupying space in the device memory. For example, if you create an album called "Family" and add all photos of your family to it, you are not actually moving the images to a different folder, merely telling the album database that these photos should be shown when you select the family album. It is possible that you have another album called "Holiday 2011" which also contains some of the same images of your family members, but you only ever have one copy of the actual file stored on your phone.
You cannot remove images from the "All photos" view, this feature will always display all compatible image files wherever they are stored in the phone (all folders of the phone memory, mass memory and memory card) - it too is just calling image data from a database.
I've just returned from a long weekend in Brussels and took some photos of the city where I plan to upload onto Facebook.
I'm a proud owner of the Nokia N8.
Now what I tried to do last night was transfer a folder of photos from the main memory (E onto a memory card. Whilst doing this, Windows put up a message saying "The device does not allow files to be placed in this location" obviously meaning the memory card (8GB in size). Underneath the message had 2 choices to either "Skip" or "Cancel". I clicked on "Skip" thinking it would press through with the job.
However it ended up moving the folder, but an empty folder with the set of photos having been accidentally DELETED!!
Is there any way I can retrieve these photos cos I don't know where else they could be.
Please anyone help and the same time tell me what the best solution would be if this were to ever happen again.
Chrizz. You can give a shot of this phone photo recovery software. Ever retrieved 95% pics deleted on my N97 memory card, works like amazing.
I know that It's been sometime since these messages are written but, I am facing a similar issue. I deleted some photos from my N8. The photos are created on the mass memory of my phone. Its the second drive with the biggest size of memory. I try the method you said. I turn off the phone and use the usb cable to connect. Windows always tries to install the drivers for the device but after the so called installation I cannot see the drivers under my computer. I can see them at "Recovery Manager" but when I try to recover it says "Media NOT present" ...
I'm using Win7 can this be the problem? I also tried on VISTA.
Well I just solved my problem I was suppose to go to the settings of my n8 and from there go to connectivity and choose USB and activate "mass storage"
There is photo recovery program that can recover deleted photos. i had used ths tool to recover deleted photos from my memory card. i had download the software and recovered my lost photos back. You can recover the deleted photos that are saved in your memory card but not in phone memory by using this software.

Thank you, Korhany! Thank you Thank you!!!
I have just recovered all my photos (99 in total) using this method! I dont have a memory card so they were all on the phone when my 2yr old daughter deleted them! Needless to say I have now backed them up on my computer. You are a SAVIOUR! Thanks again!
