Where the !@$# is ANNA for N8 in the US? It's been released for about a week. ELOP, shouldn't you straighten this out as well? Do I have to flash my phone? I'm pretty sure I can get Belle if I go that route. Why does Nokia continue to treat the US as dirt?

 I wouldn't get too excited about Anna. When it does arrive, you'll find yourself disappointed with it.

Also, don't consider flashing Belle. The version that is circulating on the net is a buggy Beta version.

GREAT "icon thingy"

I only need a little better performance, new browser, and continuous auto focus for video. I mostly want to see them get !@# out to US customers.

 That's fair enough, as long as your expectations ain't too high. The continuous auto focus is pretty good, along with the rest of the camera update. A lot better now.

I have an app that does CAF, but the app isn't great.

Sounds like you have our little girl, ANNA. What country are you in?

 I've tried two other methods for CAF. One was an unofficial mod and the other was via an app called camera pro. Both not very good. The official one with Anna is pretty good though. It actually works and doesn't give you that annoying clicking sound during audio recording.

 I'm in England, and the update was available on the 18th but didn't bother putting it on till the 20th.

YES, I have Camera Pro, not great. Up to 2 meters (or so) CAF works great. Past that, NOTHING is in focus. Does ANNA do it better?

 Anna definitely does do it better. Once you have updated to Anna you will need to visit Nokia Beta labs and download the camera update sis file to get CAF. Mind you, by the time it takes the US to get Anna, it may be included anyway. You can get really good close ups that stay in focus.

Over one week, STILL waiting. This is why I also have a M Atrix. This is why Nokia is falling off the earth.

Yes, I've had three other Nokia phones. Including the DISASTOUROUS N97. That phone actually started Nokia's "fall from grace".

I was hoping ELOP would save this sinking ship, but maybe he's just trying to make the Windows Phones look better when they come out....

After teh balls up of the PR1.2 rollout Iin Australia I have avoided even thinking about upgrades and will wait for OviSuite to tell me when it's ready.  It's been so long now what is another couple of weeks.  The phone works fine though I am looking forward to the camera upgrades.  I'm more annoyed with the slow rollout of Angry Birds.

Yes, this process is from the early 90's. You'd think with the current direction of the company a sense of urgency would happen. I guess the M$ money was plentiful enough.......

I mean, I understand that updating the code so that it's compatible for each country/region may be time consuming.

I'm just wondering why they didn't do this *before* announcing and releasing the updates.

It just seems like a blatant "screw you" to all the markets that it *wasn't* released to.

It's kinda common knowledge Nokia is not real fond of the US. I also consider it a "slap in the face" to constantly be put in the back of the bus. I went through the same thing with the AWFUL N97. Supposedly it's a server issue, not a coding one. Seeing as they are (or were) the largest cell phone maker in the world, I would think they could handle this better.

Come on don’t be naive Nokia do not have 200 million version of software they have to modify. This would not be cost effective for them to manufacture and maintain. The biggest part of their software changes are already package into the phones and that is the different languages. The frequencies are all the same for GSM all over the world. That’s why you can take your phone from country to country and it works.

Let’s face it they just hate our guts and they now have the means of showing us the people in North America although we have one of the biggest market; they can still stick it to us. Right now I can see them laughing every day. Look at that dam American’s and Canadian’s how they are **bleep**; other people in the world are getting something before they do. This is just to **bleep** us off. Remember we will have the last laugh when they start selling their windows phones and we don’t buy it.

REMEMBER WE ARE TREND SETTERS AND WHAT WE DO WITH TECHNOLOGY THE REST OF THE WORLD FOLLOWS.

So if we don’t buy the NOKIA windows phones they will soon be out of business like they are almost now and need the north American market to save them.

To be fair, if it's a server issue, they could rotate the order (countries) of the updates. I'm pretty sure that as long as I've been tracking them, we're (USA) close to last when getting the updates. I don't know what percentage of the phones were NOT carrier subsidized, but none of mine were. This will become more interesting as Nokia gets more "NAM" management in place. Did M$ effectively buy Nokia?

Why are you "disappointed"? I amrunninga European variant, and I'm having no issues with it whatsoever.  And, I'mnot in a hurry for Belle.  I can wait.  Well...until he European variant is released.  Which I'm sure it will be. Way before the US and NAM variants.

The N8 has NEVER been subsidized in the US.  As for Canada, who knows.  There's no reason the US variants could not have been released on Day 1.
