And look what a brilliant job they did on it, especially Challenger.

I know Nokia tells its worldwide customers that it has to regionalize its firmware, and to some exent this is true.
But I can also tell you that I've I flashed my US based unsubsidizes N8 with the Belle leak and it works just fine in terms of connecting to my mobile provider. All crucial services... voice, text, data work just fine. The interface is also much improved. Nokia is delaying the firmware for political reasons. Winblows phones are coming and somehow they think that withholding the firmware which they should have had ready last year (as well as the N9) will make us all cave and go in with a Microsoft handset. Rest assured, I for one am dumping Nokia as soon as I get the chance. Yes, your right, I should not have purchased the phone in it's current state, but I did read up on pending major updates to Symbian that would address the complaints towards the current OS, (which I thought might perhaps be slightly overblown)... So I tried this device out in good faith. The reports were not overblown. The phone is incredibly bad. Your right, I got what I paid for. Lesson learned HARSHLY. But fool me once Nokia...

I missed a week, now starting # 9...
The "political reason" seems to be DEAD ON. Finally, someone not blindly supporting Nokia. Since M$ has effectively "acquired" Nokia, that's exactly where this is headed in the USA.
I DO like the N8, much more than my N97. I don't think it's as bad as the previous post claims, but that's why I want the update so badly. I'm reserving full judgment until ANNA, or maybe even BELLE. If the update(s) can push this thing over the (performance) edge, I'll be pretty happy with it. Probably flashing this weekend. We (USA), may never see "The Girls".....

I am confident we will, eventually. I got a pm from skyee and she said nothing new from all of her previous posts, that is, Anna IS coming to us here in the States, and that Belle would also be released in Q4 onwards. Of course an answer with dates would've been awesome, but she also stated that Nokia don't do that.
So Anna is coming soon, and Belle will also come at some point late this year/early next year. But we have to wait.

With the possibility of only a few months for belle, then we must be looking promising for a sooner rather than a later on a Anna release, I'm sure we can all hold out for both of these patiently without to much hassle. Cant we people???? please

I just ready today about Apple rolling out their latest IPhone update. The whole world, all phones. Gee. That little company can do all that? I guess Nokia is just trying to make us feel national pride by handing it out piece by piece over several months. That's so much better than the Apple approach. I'll bet Apple lays off thousands of people and forms an alliance with Microsoft as a last ditch effort to stay afloat.
You obviously dont understand the actual size of Nokia. It goes way, way beyong just mobile phones. So staying afloat would not be an issue.
And the staff werent laid off as much as sold to accenture as part of the deal. It means that accenture will be able to extend the uses for symbian and fast track further development.
And considering that microsoft has had a hard time getting in to the mobile phone game, they needed a good platform hardware wise to run their software on. And like any good company should Nokia, said well if you want us to push your Operating system then its going to cost you. This benefits microsoft as much as Nokia.
Its just like a supermarket, where they sell shelf space to suppliers just so that the supplier can have their product on those shelves
Also apple had their latest update finished back in June, and its taken till now to get it rolled out. Which puts Nokia ahead with over 92% already rolled out in less than 2 months.

I know very well that these codes are generic regional ones, not CVs, and I am looking for confirmation from someone who is on one of these codes.
If these are out, then the CVs should be seen soon.

they are not out.. skyee posts an excel spreadsheet with all the released product codes.
nothing for north america is out yet.

Yes, I can see that those codes are indeed loaded on the Nokia Care Suite servers, but not the other ones yet. They are probably gearing up for a formal announcement for the rest of the nam ones soon. It can't possibly be much longer now...

How can you be sure if they are out or not if you do not have a handset on any of these product codes ? I can see that they are available and would gladly install any of them on your handset if we were not an ocean apart. I trust what I see on the servers, not someone's spreadsheet which may or may not be up to date.

and week #10 begins...
Like I said, we may never see "the Girls". Very soon (NokiaWorld? next week?) we'll (USA, anyway) be thrust into the Nokia/M$ mobile world. THEY really need to sell these things. Nokia is already WAY down, if this fails.....
Looks like I'll be doing some flashing this weekend.

wow, its been 10 weeks since skyee announced Anna "GoLive".. rediculous
Nokia has once again managed to disappoint its customers..
You have to give Nokia credit though.. They are writing a corporate textbook manual on how to NOT run a company.

The generic NAM product codes that are up on the servers may be very different from the USA country variants will eventually be. It could still be several more weeks before Anna for the US product codes is released.
I am not endorsing it, but If someone adventurous is willing to try it (I am not), they can download Nokia Care Suite For Store and try to change the product code on their phone to one of the generic NAM versions. Then the generic NAM update should be visible via Ovi Suite or NSU, so you are technically not flashing the phone directly, like with Phoenix. Of course it would void the warranty and I don't know what would happen if you then change back to the original product code after the update.
