After installing the latest update, released on 12/19/2012, for my Lumia 920, the screen normally visible during a phone call won't display. After a phone call is placed or received, I cannot display the phone's screen to change, for example whether speaker phone should be used, or any other options. The screen is black and won't come on. When I press the power button the screen flashes on for under a second and goes out again. This is very bad and makes it nearly impossible to use the phone. What is the fix?

have you tried performing a soft reset, by pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates?

I did do a reset and this did not help. I called Nokia support and they advised to wipe the phone completely using the feature in the About section of the phone. The phone finally finished and it's back to factory state. Thanks.

I have a related question, have had the exact same issue, and is in progress of reseting to factory standard. Only problem is that it has been 2 hours now and I have never gotten past a black screen that just says "NOKIA". Is this to be expected or is something really wrong?

It is probably not related to the update. I had the similar problem and Googled about the problem. The solution found is temporary, there is dust on the sensor behind the screen in the upper right corner. By blowing compressed air throug the head set plug the problem was solved. A sofware upgrade is needed for adjusting the sensor. Please NOKIA, fix this! I am not carrying around compressed air, and it is really difficult to operate the phone when the screen is locked black during calls.

Tried to reset to factory settings, ended up with a bricked phone (a not uncommon error it seems from searching the web) after I recovered it, the phone still has the same problem... bah!
