I've gone through the Belle update on my Nokia N8, and got as far as completing the "Restore" step. The on-screen menu says "please wait while the phone is restarted", but nothing is happening.
The phone says "Phone will restart" and it seems to be waiting for me to click on the "OK" right below it.
I know I'm not supposed to touch the phone, but what do I do? The update program hasn't changed in 15 minutes now.
Did I just turn my phone into a "brick", or should I click the "OK" on the phone screen, or ???
Any help would be very much appreciated.

It's been an hour now, and nothing is happening. I don't see anything I can do other than to hit the OK button on the phone, but I "know" that's wrong...... I can't think of anything else.
I did a backup of the phone much earlier today, which was before Nokia's automated backup. I'm mostly concerned just to get the phone going again - I can always re-install things, but I don't know if the Belle update actually completed, or if it still has more to do. If so, I think I'm stuck.
I did keep a log of everything that happened during the installation, but I don't see any reason for this to have happened.
By the way, grayed out, "behind" the Phone will restart message, are the language choices. English is checked, right below "Select your language". I still haven't clicked anything..... and it's far too late to "cancel".

In the same boat here - any joy?

I ended up giving in and pressing "ok" - did the trick!

Thanks; I didn't really see any other option, and after you posted that, I clicked on "OK" and everthing continued just fine.
Here's how things went....
I did my own backup, then started the Belle update, which did its own.
I got the message to not use the phone, and wondered what would happen if anyone called me, but that's another question for some other time.
Everything got backed up, and it got to 99% on the last backup screen, but "Bur_debug.log" never finished.
I got "Something went wrong. There was a problem with backing up yur phone. To try again, Nokia Suite needs to restart your phone. When you're ready to restart, click <continue>." I did.
Again, everything was backed up:
Contacts & Groups
Calendar Tasks & Notes
Messages
Bookkmarks & Web Feeds
Predictive Text Dictionary.
Documents
Again it got to "Bur_debug.log" at 99%, but this time it fiished.
"Finished Backing up your Nokia"
------------------
Install phase
Installing the Nokia Belle update to your phone. About 15 minutes total.
Then the phone came up with "Nokia Test Mode", then restarted again.
Restoing Backup Content
Everything got restored with no problems, and I had the message "Phone is Restarting".
That's where everything froze.
As noted above I finally pressed OK and the phone started.
The "Finishing" phase started.
"Checking necessary application updates"
"All done, your phone is now up to date."
"Your phone is now running Belle and your backup has been restored."
"To take your phone in use, first set up the phone and your mobile apps. Enjoy."
"Your documents from the phone memory were copied to E:\Nokia_Belle"
After this, I selected English, my Nokia Account (which failed - it said "try later"), my country, city, etc.
The phone is up and running - I am going to sleep, as it's 1:30am. Wow.
But for that one glitch, all this went reasonably smoothly....

Do not disconnect the cable .....First just check whether you feel vibration when you pull your lock key ....if u feel ... Then Just hold your power button for 8 to 10 seconds .... you will get vibration and your mobile switches off .... then switch on your mobile by pressing power button .....
please during the process do not disconnect the phone from pc .... the remaining finalising process will continue .... and you are ready to go with Nokia Belle .....
Cheers

When the update finished, it wanted to connect to the Nokia on-line area, but couldn't. I didn't pay much attention to that, as I was tired.
Now I notice that I seem to have lost Wi-Fi connectivity completely.
If I click on "Web" on the home page, I get "Browser unable to connect to website".
At the bottom of the "web" screen the second icon from the right looks like a tiny page placed on top of another tiny page. If I click on it I get:
Error
http://nokia.mobi/entry/van/main/N8-00
If I go to Settings > Connectivity > Wi-Fi I see "not connected".
I click on it, it searches for Wi-Fi networks, and displays the one I usually use.
If I click on that, first it says "connecting", then "Connection Failed - Access denied".
I think the phone has completely lost the ability to use Wi-Fi????

Had the same problem..waited long..but since the restore had happened, decided to take a chance...
Disconnected usb, manually restarted ..but screen was still blank, menu button light was active but could do nothing..
connected to pc, usb drivers were not loading..
Suddenly I remembered something..disconnected the phone from usb, connected the charger to the phone and restarted..it worked fine..
connected back and finished the rest of the steps manually instead..everything is fine..

After two days, my phone still has the problem with not being able to access Wi-Fi and GPRS.
If I try to use the browser, I get "Connection Failed, Access Denied" - "Browser unalbe to connect to website.
If I try to send an MMS I get: "Unable to send message. General: Unable to execute file for security reasons".
At the suggestion of someone on the phone from Nokia support, we edited the "Destinations" area, but still no luck. He told me I need to go to a Nokia Care Center and have them fix the phone - there is nothing more that I can do.
Oh, and after reading here about installing a blank memory card and formatting it, I triied that as well, but nothing changed.
It seems to me like it should be some simple thing to fix, but I'm out of ideas.
Anyone else find a way to fix this?
(What is the way you can make the phone think you've removed and re-installed the battery?)

Holding the power button down for 8 seconds, in shutting off the phone, did cause the "vibration" to indicate that the battery removal was being simulated, but when the phone re-booted it had the same problem. no Wi-Fi and no GPRS.

Problem seems to be solved, thanks to Pablo:
-------------------------
If you get a message "Connection failed. Access denied" and can´t connect to any access point (wireless - mobile) the reason could be that you installed an application that use a sniffer plugin to monitor your data usage, like SPB Wireless Monitor.
If you had installed SPB Wireless Monitor before belle upgrade and after the upgrade you lost the network connectivity, try this:
If you have Symbian Anna and want to update to belle, uninstall any data monitor like SPB Wireless Monitor before updating.

-------------------------
This might explain why someone suggested formatting the memory card - if SPB Wireless Monitor was installed to the memory card, formatting it would have fixed it I guess - but in my case I installed it to the "mass memory".
THANK YOU PABLO --- and to Nokia, I know it's not your fault, as it wasn't your code, but maybe you should suggest that people un-install SPB Wireless Monitor (and others???) and re-install only after the Belle update is completed..

I have two N8 phones, my "real" one, and one I bought for trying things out. My other phone also has SPB Wireless Monitor on it. I will verify that those "orphan folders" are in place on the other phone. If so, I will try to copy them to my PC, then remove the SPB Wireless Monitor program. I will then check if the folders were removed along with the program, and then do the Belle update.
Question - what is in these folders, why should it have any effect on Belle, and if it does have an effect on Belle (as apparently it does!!), why does Belle continue to work after re-installing SPB Wireless Monitor?
Are these folders from Nokia, or from SPB?

Thanks Mike Myers... Ur Question And Related Answers Helped A Lot... I Was Going Through Nokia Bella Upgradation, & Like U, Was Stuck In The Procedure of "Your Phone Will Retart" For Like 30 Minute But Then I Googled This Problem And Ended Up On This Page Having Ur Question... THen I Read It And All That You Done Later And I Did The Same, First By "Clicking OK" On My N8.... And Finally It Upgraded...
Thank You... Otherwise I'd Have Been Waiting When My Cell Will Restart... Bcoz It Was Wrote On Nokia Suite That "Dont Touch Your Mobile In Any Case"..

why ??

@secretsx
Not clear whether using backup feature within Nokia Suite or "Files" upon E7-00 which can be to external pen drive using USB OTG.
