Hi,

After installing Nokia suite 3.2.100, I was also invited to update the software on my Nokia 5230.  The proposed software update was 51.0.002

After initiating the install sequence, backup was created and then, while seeing the "installing software update"  I got also the famous 12017 error.

What is the cure for this error ?

Very simple solution that worked for me:

Turn off anti-virus.

Run Ovi Suite as Administrator.

Success.

Me helped to change USB port!!!

I used to connect via USB hub - everything was fine, but always ended with error 12017. I did all recommended reinstalls but nothing worked out. At desperate I connected USB cable direct to PC and surpise surpise - it helped

Simple fix - On PC: go to Programs --> Nokia --> Software updater and the stand alone updater software will either

a. update itself and then update the phone software OR

b. update the phone software.

Have you tried using Nokia Software Updater as suggested by msco?
