Reposting here since I don't know if this should be in the Maps section of software updates:

After installing the update suggested by the app store notification, Nokia maps won't start up. I get an error message which says that I can try to buy the app or may need to uninstall/install it. The buy option takes me to the app store where i can download the free app. The uninstall/install does not work after multiple attempts. This renders any app that uses nokia maps useless. For example Nokia city lens.

Has anyone else seen this issue / know the root cause or solution? I saw that someone else reported it on WPcentral today. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried turning the phone off and on again after the update? If this doesnt work, then have you tried a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates).

Sorry to hear that it is not working. I would advise connecting your phone to your computer and making a backup of all your content, and then performing a hard reset as described here: http://mynokiablog.com/2011/11/08/how-to-hard-reset-nokia-wps-three-finger-restart/

Failing that, you will need to take your phone back to your point of purchase, or to your local Nokia Care point if the point of purchase staff are being less than helpful. To locate your nearest Nokia Care point: http://nokia.com/support

Thanks adrian! I did a reset from setting->about->reset phone as specified by the manual and it worked :-).

I have the same issue. Did the "setting->about->reset phone". Restored settings and re-installed all apps, but Nokia Maps still will not launch. Any other ideas?

exactly same problem here as well. Nokia maps will not operate after software update. This also means that nokia lens will not operate as well. I will await the solution in the next few days but if hard reset is the solution, I would prefer to change this for a different handset as I am still in the 14 day grace period. Apart from this issue my other grievaces relate to Skype notifications, use of back camera for skype call and the pathetic music player. Not very happy with 920, i must confess. Has not stood up to my expectations.

May be some Ghost posting which has been removed by the Mods .. In fact I saw couple of more posts (of thanx) below that particular one.. It was nothing about the solution..but from someone from the developement team (..may not be actually) saying having knowledge of the issue and that its going to be fixed soon.

My "Nokia Maps" is now working after an uninstall, and a new download and install. I did this about 10 times yesterday with no success, but this time it worked!
