No I didn't have to go through any recovery process. After end of SW update, phone only reboted and all was in, like before.
I'm very surprised with this procedure too. I even have problem to believe that phone is really updated.

I think Nokia should announce such a novelty.

User data preservation (UDP) whilst using the NSU is nothing new.

The N82 was capable of this from it's very first update (about a year ago), as was the N96, N78, 6220c and several other models too (a select few FP1 models and possibly all FP2 models).

can anyone confirm that the music player issue has been fixed? the problem is the music sometimes scrambles randomly.

i think its better to update from fota its less mb's
i downloaded it.jus doing a back up then will install it

i did the update
seems okay
but keylock problems are worse now
it unlocks when i slide fone up
but when i start typing in my lock code it locks the keypad again
only way is to manually unlock with the top switch
that is so irritating i hate it


when i go to applications folder it still takes long to open it

I've been looking out for that one too. Not used the music player long enough to be able to tell for sure as yet.

Other improvements include much faster connection to a WLAN and smoother video playback. On that strength alone I reckon the update is worth doing, and if the garbled music bug is fixed too then so much the better.

If Nokia were to fix the VoIP fiasco on this phone it would really be great now.

Totally agree with you there. I've yet to see any negatives about this firmware yet so it's worthwhile updating.

All you can do now is wait.

Updates aren't released for all product codes at the same time. It can take a month or two before it's widely available.

Actually I think your phone is a Carphone Warehouse Product code.

You may have to wait a little before the firmware is rolled out for your code.

exactly it is a carphone warehouse phone and I hate to be the last one to get these's firmware updates, I had a N95 while ago and it was the same, had to change the product code to get latest firmware, why uk product codes are always the last ones to get the firmware

Not entirely true. If you have a UK generic product code you would have your update already. The Carphone Warehouse code is not a generic code.

Updated mine over air as well; just very disappointed that they never fixed the problem with the number of characters that can be used in the email set up - it's restricted to 30 so I cannot add the vital 'co.uk' to one of my accounts. You can add over 30 but it does not save them or crashes out back to the front screen.

Has been reported on here by a few people.

Come on Nokia this was as an easy fix !!!

Worked fine on both versions of the N95.

On a positive note the download and update went smoothly, 1st time and 1st impressions are that navagating the menus's is much more spritely :-)

I've got the same problem with HBH DS-970. Sound is every 5 sec. interrupted.
On BH-604 sound is OK.
I supose this is a bug.

You should because it makes about one days difference in my case and I live in a city where the 3g coverage is quite good.
