Can someone explain me, why I can't update my Nokia N97 with Product Code 0586701?

What is so special in N97 with this PC that I must still use old software version v12?

Users of N97 with other PC have new features, have free Ovi Maps, and I have nothing.

It's really not fair.

I have paid over 600€ for this phone in Germany, and I just have no fun with it.

Nokia Care can't help me, so now I'm waiting for answer from someone form Nokia  on this forum.

I think we are discriminated. There should be equality of treatment for all N97 users.

If you don't want to update my phone just give me new one, with other Product Code!!

I have the same product code, but I have v20 installed.

If you're so desperate for v20 do this:

Go to nearest Nokia Care and describe your problem. Tell them to upgrade your phone for free, because of the major bugs it has. Worked perfectly for me.

Next Nokia Care point is about 60km from my town, why should I go there, loose my time and spend money for this trip if other N97 users can have it without problems for free?

I don't want to have anything more as other users. I just want to have same possibilities like all others, that's all.

WHY?? Why??. . . . This is a flagship phone and it should work free of bugs. I'm not ready to give my phone to a Care Center unless NOKIA does a total recall.

Like YOLA, I'm not ready to drive across Germany and for that we have the internet and updates. Are you sending every month your PC to microsoft for updates?? Please.....

ALL we want is a working phone and the promise funtions....ect....ect.

Yes it is really disgusting. Unbranded N97 bought for hundreds of Euros. No actuall Firmware updates.

By the way,  i have a scratched lense and the GPS failure! I know  i only  have to drive to an NSC.

I was  an Nokia fan and customer for more than a decade!

I too have the same product code and was waiting anxiously for new firmware update. I enquired Nokia about second hand treatment but they have one standard reply. I mailed them today about new firmware version v21 (which is released for other Nokia N97 product code) and will wait for there reply.

If the same standard reply is given then i will send the device to amazon.de.

No v20 for eternity and now the product code is not in the list for V21 also??

We paid our hard earned 600 euros for this.. not that Nokia gave our phones complimentary...

Can there be any legal action possible against the company?? Are u guys listed here ready for it??

Legal action against company will be great, but NOKIA is big company, maybe too big. Small companies are trying to take care about every single customer, NOKIA is taking care only about herself.

I wrote today to Nokia Care (Care? No, they don't care). I asked about update, why we don't have any, when will we have one etc.

Answer was... very interesting, now I know what is Software Approval Process, how looks software's way from Finland to Germany, but I still have no answer why some very bad guy from Nokia has not approved FW v20 and v21 for PC 0586701.

Hang in there my friends. We're working on a mission where companies will no longer be able to act as they wish no matter how big or small and consumers will say the final words. Will let you know more soon.

I've got an N97 with product code 0591091 and still not updating. I've got two friends who have 5800 XM's and none of them can update.

Nokia can do phones but they have no clue about customer care nor quality check. And prbably that's why they have recently declared 3M USD loss. More to come if they don't get their act together.

PM me if you like..but never give up. We paid for these phones and they should work properly.

I don't untherstand why I need approval from a fat guy, for update my own phone (0586701-v.12.0.026), after I paid money for this. I will die with v12 on it? Sometimes I regret my decision to buy N97 against iPhone3GS

It ist all time the same, if you by a Nokia, a Si....s, a Er.......n, you pay alot, get very good support(none), maybe in this year wie get with our Produkt Code a new Firmware, in one or the other way.

OK; we all know it.

Now interesting part:

"Sometimes update is impossible because of incompatibility of hardware with new software".

Is my mobile, made by Nokia, not compatible with firmware v21, also made by Nokia?

Not compatible, because there is something wrong with it?

Did I paid 600€ for new and 100% working phone, or for some sample in test phase with less quality?

Well let's see what Nokia will say now.

I have raised the problem with my provider and they said they will not rest until they get a reply from nokia as to why and even better when the update will be available for my Nokia N97 with product code 0586701.

I told my provider if I cannot get it I will want Nokia to replace my phone for a new one. 

Lets wait and see what happens.
