I don't know why but seems like new phones purchased on Amazon.com can not be updated to Anna.
I purchased new Nokia N-8 for my son for Christmas from Amazon.com, phone came with old software release v.14.02
Tried to update over OTA or by Nokia Suite and find out that there is "No update available".
I do own same phone with same color and same product code purchased earlier and I have already upgraded to Anna on end of October when Anna was just released to US users.
I did call Nokia Costumer care and ask about it but I was told that "there is no update for phone with that product code available yet" !?.
Also when I checked comments on Amazon from people who just purchased N-8, I learned that I'm not alone.
People can't update phones with product code released earlier as available for update by Nokia.
Anyone know what's going on?

Why Nokia reps don't know about this?
This will be resolved?
When?

It's ridiculous...I got the runaround for awhile until I finally got a rep at Nokia to say that Anna was pulled from the servers, confirmed by another. Is Anna coming back online? Do we wait until February (or later as is likely the case)? I never thought myself to be a complainer but there has been no explanation, aside from rumour. While my N8 was being replaced by Nokia, I used an Android HTC phone and honestly, might switch back as it was far more user friendly than Symbian. Anna with SPB Mobile shell was workable, but now I have a "brand new" N8 that performs worse than the one it replaced. Thanks, Nokia. And I was one of the supporters.

Seems like we start a little war with that issue but was worth it, Nokia as of today put back on server Anna release for all US product code. Go ahead and update your phones. I still have no idea why they stop distributing Anna but a definetly wasn't smart becouse lot of new software will work poorly with old ^3 Symbian a specialy ones from Nokia Beta Labs.
