For product code 0586838 5800 Navi, the Nokia's own online website says differently:

"Latest available software for  Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, product code 0586838
Version:  40.0.005"

Seems that you may supply wrong information in this discussion thread.

I was alerted via *#0000#, but I didn't want to do the OTA thing, so I checked the Ovi Suite and it was listed there as well!

My phone code is 0577454. I bought this phone in US . I dont see V40 for this phone yet. I am currently in India and is it because I am in India , I can not get V40 ? Please help .. I currently have V31 and have lots of issues with homescreen etc..

I have the 5800 Xpress music and my device version is 31.0.101, however even though there is updated software on the website, my phone says there is no update available.  How do I get round this?

Hello everyone!

I want to ask if the v40.2.005 update for the 5800 navi. ed. will have ttls-eap/pap support? I want to connect to my university wireless connection, which has PAP security. I hope one of you guys with the update can help confirm if the firmware update has this capability. I know the v40.0.005 for the 5800 rm-356 or whatever has pap security support, it would be pretty stupid if the navi. ed. gets a firmware update with no pap support...

I downloaded the v40.2.005 update for my 5800 Navigation.  Love it but can't quite figure out the my location now. It shows that I am about 5 miles from my actual location and it is not showing a lock on my position. 

Before update it had no problem locking on my location quickly, now it won't do it at all.  Also, can't find where the info is for satellite location is.  I am not using it online.  Only have integrated GPS chosen (same setting as before the upgrade).  I have updated the maps.  Any help?

Also, as a side note, it seems my music player sounds better.  Is this just my imagination?

That link does not provide the complete picture/answer.  For example in the US, the 5800 XpressMusic (and Navigation Edition) are sold only as SIM-free, and yet the firmware updates are way behind in schedule.  The 5800 Nav. Ed. just recently got the v40 update, but the plain-old 5800 still doesn't.  The article at the link you provided doesn't explain why that is.

The firmware v40.2.5 or v40.2.005 for RM-428 HAS PAP support just like its counterpart rm-356 v40.0.005 or 40.0.5. I connected to a PAP security system called SecureW2 that was used by my University. A person in the school's computer group helped me do it, but I saw the process. This is specific to SecureW2. I hope all goes well for any who go through this too.

I made the mistake of calling Nokia Canada UK careline & running a £6.00 dd to my network operator last week. I wasn't very happy, as I have had absolutely no reply. I'm thinking of emailing  them on this address -> nmfeedback@nokia.com. Apparrently the Nokia messaging team are friendly & do reply back! I've found some nice new bugs that they might like to eat for 31.101.217.08. I know that some bugs have made it all the way from original release to latest without being coded right. i guesse they are under immense pressure & very busy.
