Your App Updater issues apart, I don't recall having to download the FlashLite 3.1 update after the upgrade to v31 firmware. It might be on your phone already...is there something that leads you to believe that you need to upgrade to FlashLite 3.1?

Hi all. Thanks for taking the time to read my post and for the advice. I've never bothered updating before now but as I'm using this phone as a pc, music player, tv multifunctional device, I wanted to get the most out of it and have it be up to date.
I didn't know how to detect what flash lite version I had and what confused me more was I thought this flash lite 3.1 update came separately aside from the firmware update to 31.0.101 but as it turns out I have it included.
With regards to the "App. Update" I've tried different settings and the issue persists, but I find if I click on it fast it loads but with the message "refreshing failed please try again later" or just a blank screen shows up, so I guess I have 2 options left either I chance a reset with my stuff backed up or a Tmobile store guy said he would assist me, but either way I wanted to explore my options as there is no 100% guarantee with restoring everything.

To get to the bottom of the App Update issue, I'd rather call/email Nokia Support before I'd hand my phone over to the T-mobile store to mess with, unless the phone was purchased from there, and they had specific experience with it.
About resetting the phone & making backups: I make a backup of my phone settings on a somewhat regular basis even if I don't use it. The only time I used the backup was with the upgrade to firmware v21 which lost my settings. And the restore at that time worked really well. So don't be afraid to use it - unless you try it out, you won't know if it works for you.
I don't normally backup my programs because I don't have any paid apps yet. If you have paid programs, make sure you know how to reinstall the licenses for those. A reset + restore does me good by cleaning out my phone. Sometimes I never end up re-installing the applications that were on the phone previously...just don't use many of the apps I install.
Anyway good luck with the App Update & let us know how you resolve it.

I was inspired by your post and thought I would stop being a wimp and try a few things myself. I feel like I should of had a shot of something beforehand to steady my nerves because I was really worried not just about my contents but about the actual phone itself.
I've finally found a phone I love, aside from a few niggles, like a really **bleep** video player etc, but anyway... First I decided to reinstall the firmware update via usb online Software Updater this time, that went smoothly, but didn't fix it.
Secondly I bravely resorted back to factory settings............... that didn't do it either, so on the advice of another discussion on here I did a "Reformat" took out both the sim and the memory card just incase, my stuffs regularly backed up, so that was ok and went ahead with it. Those couple seconds where the phone goes white are the scariest of all. But I powered on and yea everything was wiped and strangely it went to offline mode. So this is what I did firstly I thought I would check the App Update to see if it worked and YAY...... I'm happy to report that finally did it. I installed flash lite 3.1, checked my firmware was up to date and then I put my sim and memory card back into my phone and restored everything Successfully,
Incidentally, when the sim was inserted and the phone switched to general mode the offline mode disappeared thank goodness. So I am one happy bunny because this phone wasn't on contract or payg, I won it, so couldn't afford to have it conk out on me.
Big emotional hugs to everyone that replied. Have a wonderful New Year ![]()
