Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

I have installed with no problems but: - No quickoffice - No Rihanna Service Launcher - No Gimlet Touch 2.2 - No Cherry v2.1 Also, in Italian, if you have a repeatable alarm, "Remove alarm" is translated in a wrong way, i.e. both "Deactivate Alarm" and "Remove Alarm" are translated with "Disattiva Sveglia" that means "Deactivate Alarm".

Re: Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

I keep on wondering where did those people making the fake change logs all get the idea for those rihanna, gimlet and cherry...not a single person who updated on many forums ever got those.

Where ever you saw those changelogs, they're fake.

Re: Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

I just finished doing this upgrade - no quickoffice for me as well..wasn't expecting rest ...

BUT ....I have a BIG problem...my 3 GB music library in Memory card is not getting recognized. When I started the player, it says searching for music and just keeps at it forever...I checked in massstorage mode, all the songs are there on the card but phone is not seeing them !!

Any tips?

@Jcarlo: I agree, that translation is not that smart. It is also the same in the help-file, except for the word "ripetuto" in the explanation. Maybe if you bring it to Nokia's attention it will be taken care of in the next version.

Re: Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

@ddguy - follow these:

1. Connect your 5800 to you PC in Mass Storage Mode
2. On your PC you will need to have allowed to “Show” hidden files, do this from Explorer/Tools/ Folder Options/ View and select “Show hidden files and Folder”
3. Open your SD memory card/Removable Disk in My Computer on PC
4. Go to E:\ Private there you will see 3 folders 101f8857, 101ffca9 and 10281e17 .
5. Go to Private\101f8857\Cache\E there you will see .dat files. Delete all the .dat file BUT NOT the E Folder. Shown above right
6. Now go to Private\101ffca9 there you will see another .dat file, Delete the dat file NOT the folder.
7. Finally go to Private\10281e17 There you should see 4 files 2 are Mp3 files other are Podcast files. Delete mpxv2_2.db & mpxv2_2.db-journal for Mp3 files list and Delete pcv6_1.db & pcv6_1.db-journal for Podcast files list. Shown above right
8. Close all windows and disconnect your Phone. Go to Music Library and it should automatically start a refresh.

Re: Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

@Chanchan - your solution improved things a lot....thanks a lot !!!

However in E:\private I see many more folders apart from the 3 u mentioned. Is that normal.

After doing what u said, when I started Music player...it didn't give me any message and I can see a lot of previously unlisted songs inside but all my nokia music store downloaded songs (Sitting in E:\Music Store Downloads) are not showing up. Wonder why????

I tried to download them again from the PC but on my windows XP PC the phone now refuses to connect in "media transfer" mode (I keep getting "mtp device found" message in PC) and OVI player insists that I must connect in that mode. I remember this problem had come earlier too but somehow I managed that time and now after phone upgrade its back

Re: Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

@jjegan: Can you tell me where does the Quick office sits in your phone after upgrade? In my phone after the first start I got an "installing" indication but after a lot of time, it just died with a message "System Error". I fear that may be its was Quickoffice trying to install and failing. I tried reinstalling V5.0 but I never got the "installing" state again

Re: Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

Its normal. E: Private is the location for many system files on your phone.

As for Media Transfer, it seems you have a problem with your MTP drivers. I know you would get the MTP device found message, but I think it should be followed by an "installing device drivers message"? Or at least it should on Vista. Just keep it plugged in for a while before trying to use it on Ovi Player.

Re: Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

If you have the nearly useless read only Quick Office it does not install it is embedded in the firmware   and appears in applications on the phones first reboot .

As a post on another forum suggested MTP device is a problem with computers running WM11 .

1. Make sure your on media Player 10 (11 will mess this up)
2. Go to settings/connectivity/USB on phone and select Mass Storage
3. Connect USB cable to PC
4. Go to Windows Explorer and navigate to the phones memory card. Look for "Private Folder"
5. In Private Folder delete folder 10208913
6. Turn off phone after disconnecting USB cable
7. Re-connect USB cable and turn on phone (Important this is done as described)
8. Go to settings/connectivity/USB on phone and select PC Suite
9. MTP driver should now load Ok and everthings cool.

 Not tested by me as i never had a problem .

Re: Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

@jjegan Are you saying you get the quick office full version on upgrade if you uninstall quick office read only?

Re: Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and V50.0.005

@JCarlo,

I'm here to support your statement. In fact, i have the same experience as you. After the upgrade i don't see the quick office and the so called Rihanna and on top of this, i really don't see much significant update in v50 update...... In fact, the v40 firware is much more pratical and i dont have as much complaint as the v50 upgrade.... It also have alots of BUGS in v50 also, not sure you realized it - the screen auto-rotate function seems to response slower as it use to be and while i'm typing message - the words out of sudden goes backward and eaten all my words that i have typed previously.. YES, it happened and NO JOKE! and it is really frustrating and disappointing! I'm now deperate to wait for a bug fix for this...really can't wait for it to release! :smileysad:

Take a better look, OVI contacts. Standard Nokiamaps is v3.03 (was 3.01) and one touch dialing for instance.

QuickOffice and Rihanna are ONLY in Asian updates.The guy in the above is probely in India.

Not "a lof of"You consider a feature as a bug too, because you ran't familiar with it. I have try to automatically backspace something in typed in. Uptil now it didn't work with me, lol.

Screen rotation is basically quite fast on mine within 0.5 sec

You won't get a bugfix if it isn't a bug. Sart working on the tips you got instead of typing!

I think it is a good and stable release, ofcourse with some small bugs
