To echo some posts here, this is just NOT good enough; this smacks of the N97 debacle of users just simply being ignored in the hope that we would go and buy a new Nokia phone - definately WILL NOT be doing that again.
Nokia, (in particular Nokia Australia), it's time to come clean and provide a detailed explanation of the reasons as to why Australia has been left out. To say that I myself (not to mention other Australian users) am throughly annoyed is an understatement. Nokia Belle has been advertised globally by Nokia that the N8-00 and other first gen Symbian^3 phones WILL get Nokia Belle; during the lead up time to this release, there was nowhere to be seen that Australia would not get Nokia Belle.
Right Nokia, now it's your turn to speak up please. And preferrably now, not next week.
Hello Nokia - anyone prepared to speak up yet??
All of us here in Australia would like an explanation as to why we won't be getting the update. This is nothing short of an absolute disgrace!

Absolute Disgrace , Australia not getting Belle.. Why would anyone buy Nokia Phones after that? Certainly not me ..
Exactly.
I don't see how they can use the carriers as an excuse. What about those of us with generic devices! Not good enough. My phone is barely a year old & I'm being told it will no longer receive updates.

even if they wont release it to australia, you can still get the belle update. The how etc, can not be posted here due to forum rules.

it was explained in another topic, think it had something to do with the carriers, was in one of the belle topics
"Some countries and operators have nevertheless decided to not make Nokia Belle available due to technical reasons. In detail that means, if the information in the availability page states “Nokia Belle not available” the update unfortunately won’t be released for this variant."
The answer provided by Nokia is not satisfactory to me, the customer.
Countries do not choose (unless Nokia can produce some documentation from the Commonwealth of Australia Federal Government indicating that 'the country' has chosen to not make Nokia Belle available).
Companies (ie. Nokia Australia) and operators (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, 3, etc) have chosen. I can understand that the operators may have made a decision based on the work they have to do customize Nokia Belle for their specific 'look and feel', but Nokia have not provided their reason.
There is no technical reason why Belle will not work in Australia on existing phones. There are other Belle phones already here, the UMTS/3GPP hardware in the existing phones (N8, E7, E6, etc) is already proven working on Australian networks, and people who have existing phones purchased internationally have updated and advise there are no problems.
