@PaulGrenfell: please read the post that Skyee has made up there. It explains why you may not have received the update yet. Also, those features you are asking for are not included in the current PR 1.1 release, but may be included in future firmware updates.

Well at least the Landscape qwerty would be added with the PR1.1.. I hope my carrier isnt delaying the release as indicated by Skyee.. This phone will be a major disappointment if these FW updates are continually delayed.. I will give it 6mths, and if it isnt up to scratch.. Out she goes..

I read somewhere on Nokia Danmark that updates are rolled out according to sales, i.e. variants that sell the most will receive them first. Apart from that, I cannot offer any more advice. My guess is as good as yours as to why the rest of the variants are not listed. So I can't really speculate sorry mate.

• We will keep on releasing regular updates, that means there's no risk for PR2.0 for N8/C7/C6 and other phones that are due for an update
• Releases will be available for everybody - and we take all your feedback that we got in the last days into account and are working on improving the processes

WP7 is something that we're looking forward to, but we are not forgetting our existing consumer base who's using Symbian phones!

The excitement for WP7 is not as great as it was when meego was announced.

But I do not like Android as it feels faulty compared to Symbian, but a lot quicker, which could be because of the faster cpu.
iOS will never come into consideration for me. So I hope Symbian will be great until you prove that you have a stable platform with WP7, or any other OS, as long as it is as good as i'm used to from Nokia. And we keep the free navigation software/maps... :-)

But I think Nokia needs to prove what they are able to, if I should buy a Nokia with WP7...

But I am looking forward to getting the updates for my Nokia, even though it looks like it is hard to get...

1.As you said, Nokia existing Symbian user will not be forgotten but from what I see in your post, it's referring to the newer Symbian^3 user. I'm worry about the fate of Symbian^1 user. Will those user bring equally treated with new feature and continuous support?

2. Besides that, we are being told that Nokia had cut a lot of Symbian developer and R&D cost reduction. Will this affect the update? eg. another delay?

Great, this confirms that PR 1.1 is published for my N8 (059C640). I've been seeing the update in Software update for 3 days now but it prompts me to use a 'PC' to install the update. Of course, as a Mac user that is not an option. 

However, in Device update (*#0000#) I'm still not seeing the update. 3 days! My update has been on Nokia servers for 3 days and I still can't download it. Is that normal?

I cannot see any updates in ovi suite, and nothing when searching directly in my phone.

Thanks for the Clarification Skyee. I understand the issues around Operator Variants as i've been here for quite some time. My question though, was about Country Variant product codes not being on the list for all colours. The device i have is the Orange colour N8 (059C5Q5) bought directly from the Nokia UK online store (so definately not an Operator Variant). I'm quite happy to wait a couple of extra weeks if i have to, but i don't understand why the update would be released for the dark grey UK Country Variant (059C5Q8) and not the others? Surely the firmware & content files are the same for both the codes i listed above as they are both UK Country Variants?

I couldn't see any definition of what "Week07" means.

I have a 059D Australian N8, and wonder if that  Week07 means:

• Week 07 of the Calendar Year
• Week 07 after the firmware was officially announced?

Could you please clarify?
