Hi, I am in middle east and bought a N80 5 months back from one of the electronics store. Its still under warranty. Now when i asked them for update my phone to new firmware they said that they are not doing that so i take it to one of the nokia service center but they replied saying that they will update FREE only if it will bougt from their shop OR else i have to pay the charges.. Is nokia service center is not doing it free eben though the phone is in warranty??
Hello! Usually Nokia service center does the update with free of charge if you explained about software problems and there is a new version of firmware. Andrey
I just spoken with Nokia Careline and even they confirm the same thing that I have to carry the mobile to dealer from where I purchase the phone. The other nokia service center will do the update but they will charge even though the phone is in warranty
If you have no major problems today then why not update with http://www.nokia.co.uk/softwareupdate once N80 updates become available? There is no date exact date spesified for this yet but on FAQ they say that all Nseries devices will become updateable sooner or later.
