Repairing NSU-broken E70's

The Nokia apology for update that breaks E70's includes the statement that: "Any defected device can be fixed at any Nokia Service Point".

It seems that this is not true. A local NSC have tried to reflash my phone and concluded it cannot be done. The broken devices have to go back to Nokia to be repaired or replaced (with a consequent two week minimum delay).

I wouldn't take such a statement so literally.

I would take it as: You can send/bring the device to the nearest service point and they will fix it free of charge.

Then I would understand, if they do not have the parts, they need to order them, and if they do not have the tools or skills to fix it otherwise, they need to send the device onwards to someone who does.

Re: Repairing NSU-broken E70's

I think that the "missing part" is the ... flash file. As I know, the official E60 update "kit" (for using in service centers) was released only yesterday, while the online flash for E60 was posted on September 11, two days earlyer. So I suggest to wait a couple of days for E70 also...

The Service Centre told me they had the E70 kit, but nevertheless couldn't reflash the phone.

Re: Repairing NSU-broken E70's

Hi All,

If you find yourself in strife after using the NSU to update your E70, please get in contact with an authorised Nokia Engineer. They will be able repair your phone, you can find the nearest one to you on www.nokia.com/repair

However, if you have been into a Nokia Engineer and have been unable to get it repaired, please call your local contact centre for assistance. You can find details for this on www.nokia.com/support

Cheers

It was an authorised engineer, listed on the Nokia UK website, who told me he couldn't fix it and had to send it away to Nokia ...
