@feiralurema: You can update your phone by either using the software update client in your phone (menu> applications > tools > software update) or by connecting your phone to your PC, start OviSuite and select Tools > Software Update.

@paiktaras: Your Greek language support depends on the fact if your phone left the factory as a Greek phone (= Greek variant) or not. If that's the case you can update by OviSuite or OTA and you keep the language. The update method itself doesn't matter.

@Andy232: I don't really understand the case. Do you mean that you can't answer the call as the screen stays black even after you took it out of the pocket?

@samsea: Have a look in the troubleshooting thread here in the Software Update section (it's a sticky on top of the posts). There's an FAQ for sync problems.

Regarding TescoUK approval: Tesco/O2 finally approved the update & we're just getting the files ready for upload. I'll give you a shout once they are on the servers - it will be around mid of next week.

Re: Symbian Anna launch - week38 add-on's

@skyee

Thanks for responding. I had just read on this forum and elsewhere that after updating to Anna, some E7s had a bug whereby if a call was incoming, the E7 would ring normally, but if it was in your pocket, a bug with the proximity sensor meant that when you took the phone out of the pocket/purse to answer it, the screen is completely black and remains locked. I don't know if this is particular to Nokia Sleeping Screen or the regular screen. I just wanted to ask in case you knew anything about it.

Thanks again :smileyhappy:

@Jayzteroid

And you have updated your E7 to Symbian Anna? Because this is only after updating to Anna (apparently...that's what I've read from other users)

hi skyee again!

But this is the problem and I do the upgrade through the ovi suites, my N8 the following information:
language set 014.002.07.01
product code 059D8G5
the phone is bought in Greece with a code of Romania, so if I go I update via ovi suite  will miss the Greek, I ask when will we get the update via OTA to not have a problem with
 language

Yes, the first thing I did was updating to Anna when I purchased my E7-00 in the first week of this month.

I did the update via OTA.

@Jayzteroid: great, thanks for the response. Hope I can rest assured that when Anna finally comes to the US, I won't have the buggy screen problem. How do you find Anna on your E7? Fast and zippy? Any lag or restarts? I'd love to know :smileyhappy:

CameronS:

Why would skyee (or anyone else at Nokia for that matter) apologise for a delivery date that they have asserted numerous times they have no control over? Notice I did not refer to the delivery date as delayed either - they have not stated a delivery date for the USA versions and so are not late.

...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

skyee or any particular employee may not be personally responsible for delivery date and she may have no control over it either , but NOKIA as a company is responsible for its own software delivery schedules even if it involves approvals from 10000 places they are responsible for their delivery dates.

When and where has Nokia officially said that they have no control over the delivery date (or waiting for third party approval etc). They have been saying that they are working on it and will be released within 3 weeks  in rest of the world including USA. They have been claiming that software will be released 'soon' and 'soonest' since last 6 weeks as if its going to be released the next day.  But now they donot give any timeframe except for few more weeks each passing week.

Back in July/Aug they did state that all  remaining countries (including USA)  will get Anna rollout within next 3 weeks , so they are infact LATE.

Nokia is reponsible for delivery of its software and no one else.  Its their plan incomptence that they could not deliver the software in time

It seems the  time they take to rollout Anna all over the world, a new product is launched by rival manufacturers within that time frame. NOKIA is slow and incompetent and have FAILED  to deliver what they promised

Not quite sure where you got that idea from. when you check Skyee's post stating that anna goes live, it was the 18th august. She also stated :- Other countries are mostly confirmed for the next three weeks..

below is a copy of her original post on the 18/9. you will notice that there is no mention of the USA. and that it said MOSTLY confirmed. Every other post after this one, simply states that USA is not available yet. They do have to wait for approval whether or not you want to believe it, is not going to change the fact. and they do release as soon as they get the approvals. So whether or not you want to keep harping on about this, you are not going to get it any quicker, nor is it going to change your life in any real meaningful way, so save yourself the stress and give it a rest.

Hi all,

and first of all apologies for being quiet in the last weeks. But we've been working round the clock to have everything ready for today.

We've just gone live with Symbian Anna: The software update is ready and downloads will begin to be available today. The update includes new icons, a portrait QWERTY keyboard, faster web browsing and better maps.

How do I get it?

The Symbian Anna update will be available through Ovi Suite on the PC or the SW Update app on your phone. This is a large download, so for speed and reliability, the Ovi Suite method is best. We do not recommend that you attempt to update over-the-air unless you have a strong and reliable WiFi connection.

Where and when?

Countries that will receive their updates this week include the following:

Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Thailand, UAE, the UK, and more

Other countries are mostly confirmed for the next three weeks.

Re: Symbian Anna launch - week38 add-on's

@jraduga, you deserve to be at Nokia's payroll. You do a great job defending them from evil customers who complains every time.

Let me tell you that when you have customers you MUST inform them and "NOT SAYING" something only helps in not receiving a Lawsuit but doesn't work as well to keep them satisfied. They don't mention Australia, Canada or the US, as well as any other country, but they are in effect very vague in their announcement, and that give's their customers from all over the world false expectations.

We, Nokia users know we have the best hardware at the best price and we know also that our great hardware is a work in progress and "NEEDS" those firmware updates that are most bugfixers to achieve somehow their potential. As a client I think, as many others all over the world, we must be informed, that's it, that's the key to our satisfaction.

Relax yourself and fight less wind mills, you will be happier.

Cheers.:smileywink:

Re: Symbian Anna launch - week38 add-on's

@jraduga you are right about what nokia said I remember reading it on the first week of the go live for the Anna update. I upgrade my phone once a year so who cares about Anna or belle people meego N9 is out next month and it makes all other phones ui's look **bleep** next to it. Nokia is by far still the greatest phone manufacturer in the world. But I would like to say thanks to @skyee for keeping us updated with info regarding Anna because I still plan to update my phone.

Re: Symbian Anna launch - week38 add-on's

@anf87

Good for you. I hope you enjoy your N9 very much, indeed it's an awesome device too for what I've seen of it, but some of us still like (and plan to keep using) our N8s or C7s, X7s, E7s, etc., and still have the right to complain if there's something bothering us. I have to tell you, though, if I'd choose my device only because of it's UI, I'd choose iPhone or some Android device, but I choose Nokia over all other because of it's hardware mostly and because it is my favorite brand too.

@Skyee (yvonne), I thank you very much at a personal level, for your concern about us; for giving us your personal time to inform what's going on, and please keep on doing it. You must know by the time that our complains are not for you but for Nokia and in the deep we complain because we care about it.

Same for you @anf87

Enjoy your N9 and post your comments about it please. I'd like to know and it won't be available in the US, so your comments will be much appreciated. However, I have doubts about the support the N9 will receive from Nokia after its release, because Meego will be under the ominous shadow of WP7 in the next months.

Re: Symbian Anna launch - week38 add-on's

CameronS

Open your eyes please and stop the schmoozing

Symbian^3 was promised to 2009, delivered in 2010

Anna release has been expected since FY11Q2
Anna software was launched until near end FY11Q3, new mobiles come with Anna since July 2011.
Why is it taking so long to release upgrade?
What is the difference between my N8 mfr'd 2010 or Jan-2011 and N8 mfr'd in Jul-2011?

And you're saying Nokia is doing great?

So why is its stock failing like a pound of lead in middle of the ocean?
Because they're "nice" and the world is "evil" ?

And do you know why they're sharing their development plans when they "don't need to"?
Because even investors consider Nokia worst enemy its own software, not Apple nor Android.

Nokia is not being "couraging" by sharing its plans, they're just trying to keep alive its brand with the so-called "doggy swimming".

Come on, give me a break and face reality!

Symbian^3 is unstable and new apps in Ovi Store are only working properly in Anna

That's why everybody is demanding Anna to be fully released

Not because people is crazy about tasting new release.

Re: Symbian Anna launch - week38 add-on's

Dear @jraduga

Please refer to the email from nokia about USA release of Anna

Is this not clear enough information that as per Nokia USA, Anna was available as on 25th Aug but it is not :-)

Also What does "Other countries are mostly confirmed for next 3 weeks" mean for you ?"

Does "other coutries""  not include USA, Australia, if that is the case then why was it not clearly mentioned that USA is not included in the mostly countries list ?

Are  USA , Australia not a country ?

  Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

We are sorry for the inconvenience that this issue may have caused you.

In response to your e-mail, we would like to inform you that to please refer to the following below:

1. Why is the Anna update not available to USA N8 users?

Answer: Please be advised that the Symbian Anna software update is now available in all countries and regions. However, kindly note that this update still depends on the product code of the Nokia N8-00 phone and the testing and completion of the software for delivery as a download to all existing users of compatible smartphones. For this, we are working closely with our operator partners, who will help us to ensure that the software is delivered at the earliest possibility, but also that it is delivered in the right way and that quality is not compromised.

2. Where as in the rest of the world it is available?

Answer: Symbian Anna software update is now available in all countries and regions.

3. Why such discrimination with USA N8 holders?

Answer: We want to apologize to Symbian smartphone users. A power failure where a number of our servers were located caused download issues for some users. Please bear with us- we promise you'll be able to download Symbian Anna again soon.

4. When are the Anna update and Belle updates expected to be available to USA users?

Answer: Symbian Anna is now available in all countries and regions. However, we are unable to guarantee when will be the release of Symbian Belle software update in USA.

Lastly, you may also frequently check if there is an available Symbian Anna update for your Nokia device. Your phone can alert you when new software updates are available. In the Software Update application:

1. Select Options > Settings > Auto-check for updates
2. Select On > OK

You may also utilize the link below to check for an available Symbian Anna software update for your device.

http://www.nokiausa.com/us-en/support/product/n8-00/

Your utmost understanding is much appreciated on this matter.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. To ensure proper handling of your case, kindly continue using the current subject line.

You may also call Nokia Careline at 1-888-665-4228 from Mondays to Fridays at 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. EST and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. EST for immediate assistance.

Thank you for your email.
