Apologies if this sounds ignorant but do Optus have a similar blog like Vodafone or a similar webpage like Telstra where they post updates about updates?
I tried sifting through their website but couldn't find much except for a few 404 errors :-/
Cheers,
Rish

And Cop this..
"Nokia have cancelled the PR 2.0 Telstra update due to instability with emergency calling. This is resolved in the PR2.01 update. Nokia are now unable to provide an ETA for submission to Telstra."
I dont blame Nokia for this Charade.. Telstra is just not playing ball.. im sure there is more they could do to help.. I doubt if Telstra will ever be ready..Our biggest Telco is still on PR1.0 ..Disgraceful..
hmmm, the last time I checked that page a few days ago it still said expected september, but now TBA. must be a reasonable issue for it not to be ready considering they have advised that PR2.01 works..
Whilst I would really like to see Anna on my phone, I'm glad they havent released it when its got issues with emergency calling.

I still dont understand why Unbranded sim frees need to wait.. Why?
We paid a premium for these handsets to avoid such issues..
I really dont know where people got the idea of having an Unbranded/Unlocked phone meant they are independant of their country. And that they would get the updates without carrier checking.
An unlocked phone just means you are not tied to only one carrier in that country, that you can move between those carriers in that country at will.
An Unbranded phone just means that it doesnt have any carrier related software added or removed and also again can be used on any carrier in that country.
All phones from nokia are designated to a particular country, thats what the product code is for.
Only once the firmware is approved will it be released.
Paying a premium comes down to the choice of the purchaser. I choose to buy my phones outright, it gets me discounts with my carrier. In the case of the USA, N8's were only sold outright, Nokia choose after discussions with carriers to supply the phone, even when the carriers only offered a small subsidy. This was caused by the carriers in the USA. If nokia hadnt done this then no-one in the US would have N8's.(unless of course the purchaser imported from another country)

I disagree with above
An unlocked or world phone means it can be used on any supported carrier anywhere in the world and you are not limited to using the phone within that country only. This is all plain BS.
My friends E63 bought in Asia works perfectly on a US carrier's network. He doesnt need to get his phone or software approved by the carrier in USA. Similarly does a unlocked phone device bought from USA or Europe need approval before using on a Asian carrier, It think its a big NO.
I dont know why are you trying to save Nokia's **bleep** here @jraduga which deserves to be kicked tight

@cool8: I think you need to read the posts on this forum a little closer for a full, complete, and perfectly believable explanation of why there are country variants, even though they may not be locked a particular carrier.
So, yes, your N8 can work anywhere in the world. Hell, that was one of its selling points.
BUT, an N8 configured for sale in the USA is different to an N8 configured for sale in Australia. I don't understand why you find that so hard to believe. Take emergency number dialling (an example oft quoted on this forum): why do you believe that a country variant N8 would not need testing and local approvals (from the local Nokia office, from the local regulatory office, and maybe the local carriers).
You must be very frustrated by the lack of response from Nokia over your constant demand that they release the update for unbranded US phones. Don't you think they would release it instantly if they could? Do you really think they enjoy getting constant criticism over their apparent mis-management? Surely, it is obvious (even to you) that there are other companies/people/parties involved in the process that are stopping Nokia from releasing the update, and therefore, no matter how much you complain the situation will not (cannot) change.
AND... just because Apple are announcing an update for their single phone model doesn't mean they are better at this than Nokia. How do you know that Apple didn't start their update development long before Nokia?

We are making good progress in testing the Symbian Anna software update in Australia. Nokia now aims to have Symbian Anna widely available for Australian consumers by the end of this month (October 2011). We apologise for this delay and reiterate our commitment to ensuring that every user will get a high quality update experience.

J_Lo_,
How can you come in here and not say a word about what the heck is going on with the USA release of Anna?
what the hell is going on here?

@skyee
I am on Orange UK.
I installed the main Anna upgrade and then about 24 hours later, the 2/2 upgrade which was listed as being available to me via Ovi Suite. This was about a week ago.
However, I do not have the 1/2 update. I understand that Quick Office and pdf reader (that came with fully operational versions on my N8) are included in the 1/2 update.
I urgently require these 2 applications and I did not realise when upgrading to Anna that they would be lost.
Is there anyway of just loading these 2 applications or is there a way of being able to load the 1/2 update when the Phone / Ovi Store do not acknowledge that these are missing.
I would welcome your advice.
Thanks in anticipation.
