Hi all,
we had one more country going live with Symbian Anna today and also released more updates for countries that have already launched Anna in the previous weeks. (Attached is as usually the list of product codes that now have Symbian Anna available for download.)
GoLive week39:
- Slovenia
Additional variants added for the following countries:
- Brazil – Claro
- Saudia Arabia – country variants
- UAE – country variants
- UK - Tesco
The following countries are planned for a launch in the next couple of weeks: Australia, USA, Canada

I've been pretty patient compared to most of the people on this forum/in this thread. Next couple of weeks for the USA, Canada and Australia?! Oh come on!
Waiting and waiting for simple things like a split screen calendar, a portrait qwerty (mainly for touch devices like N8) and being able to add a caption to photos before sharing them to facebook, is getting tiring.
Personally I have kinda given up on the whole Anna thing, it's a mess now, it's not something people like me can just say, oh well, just another couple of weeks...my patience has run out.
Basically I'm done with checking this forum every day for skyee's messages. I'm just going to wait for December/January and simply wait for Symbian Belle. If Anna is needed in order to get Belle, I'll install it for a day then go straight to Belle. I can't spend the next 2 weeks checking to see if Anna has been released yet. It's silly now. August 18th with all that fuss and fanfare. And it'll be around October 15th before we (might) see it in these countries. People will tell me to install the Anna version from the internet, but I'm not doing that. My E7 runs just fine without screwing it up like that.
This is poor, Nokia. Very poor. ![]()

Thanks for the info Skyee,
Here in Australia, we at least know that there is issue with regionising the code for Anna, I guess it will be a similar situation for the USA and Canada

Whatever.
I've already taken the SIM out of my N8 and put it into another phone. The N8 has been demoted to my "point and shoot" camera, and I'm carrying a different converged device for my communications.
I'm not going to spend the next couple of weeks spastically running SW Update, waiting to see if the update is there to fix the laggy email retrieval, the portrait keyboard (promised since FEBRUARY!), and the "improved" browser.
I'll keep the N8 in the travel bag, turned off and sans SIM for now. And I can guarantee I'm not buying another Nokia product, if this is the level of support we get here in the US. I'm not saying we should've gotten Anna first, but we should've received it in-line with other major markets, within the "3 week" timeframe.
Wake me up when Belle gets here... if ever...

What can I say skyee (yvonne)? I don't thank you at all, this time.
I'd like to think though, there's a very good reason for not releasing the update as you promised:

"The following key countries are still outstanding and planned for a launch in the next couple of weeks: Australia, USA, Canada".
If that's what's happening, this is a very good time to give us some real explanation of what's going on.

From what we know here in Australia is that there is issues with the Anna code causing problems when trying to call emergency numbers eg police, fire, ambulance. Its probably a similar situation for your part of the world.

Thanks for the info jraduga, however I'd like the most it comes from skyee and/or Nokia itself, you know, something more like an official statement.

OMG!
This must be a nasty joke!!!!
How is it possible that Apple makes a new iPhone faster than Nokia takes to develop a software upgrade????????
I guess Nokia will go back to its initial business of selling rubber, c.a. 100 years ago, because they lack habilities for selling current and updated smartphones.

hi, when the update will be released in the U.S. from symbian anna
2011-09-29 22:04
Well, it's happened. Hope you're satisfied...here in the US, I tried to keep her onboard this whole time, but my girlfriend has HAD IT with her Anna-less N8. She's put the SIM back into her old, battered Blackberry, and after an hour of updating that, she said, "Why did I ever leave Blackberry? I love this thing!" So she's happy, and her N8 will go on eBay soon, proceeds of which will buy her a newer Blackberry.
Congratulations Nokia. One less Symbian customer to worry about.
I'm sticking with my E7 though. Even without Anna, I still love the thing. I'll check for updates around Christmas, hopefully it'll say Belle is available. Seems like Anna was all promises but no results. We're not idiots, y'know. Start treating customers properly. Especially if you don't want to damage your reputation here in the US even more than it already is. Shortsighted. Very shortsighted.

You know in the back of my mind I keep thinking..."You don't want Anna...you don't want Anna...wait for Belle...wait for Belle." And then when Belle comes, "Oh what do you know it's time to replace my N8...with a brand new spanking Samsung Galaxy S III !!!"
