I apologize for posting this again if this has been asked on this thread before. But three is no way search this particular thread.
This is a serious question for Nokia developor or employee like Skyee who know about the upcoming Anna.
There is a known issue with Symbian and EAP-PEAP authentication without using Certificates for connecting to corporate and school WIFI networks that support this.
I have the N8 and am unable to disable the use of Certificates while connecting to EAP-PEAP base 802.1x based Wifi networks. All other smartphone and tablets (including iPhone, iPad, Andriods) do this wihtout hiccups.
I know there is an explanation from Nokia that not using Certificated is a security hazard for the client (the smartphone user) as any rough operator could masqurate and steal your userid and password without certificated. But the fact is that majority of corporated and university Wifi Access point use this type of authentication without the need for Certificate and most smartphones support it.
Now the Symbian Anna update is a good oppurtunity to address this serious shortcoming, and i dont know if it is being adddressed.
Please respond....

Is anyone else getting really bored by the whole Anna / Symbian 3 saga?
The fact of the matter is that when is finally available it'll be a half hearted release of an operating system that is being killed off.
My N8 does the job I bought it for. I was looking forward to PR2.0 a few months back when it was expected, but now I'll just see my contract out for the next 9 months and NEVER give my money to Nokia again.
Like I said, my N8 does what I bought it for, but false promises and terrible treatment of their customers means that Nokia are no longer a company that I trust or will recommend any more.
I wasn't against the Windows partnership, it could be good, but customer service is oh so important and Nokia have forgotten this.
Skyee (or any other Nokia employee) who started this post can't even be bothered to respond to the questions that have been asked of her. I'm sure it's not her fault, but it is indicative of the attitude of Nokia as a whole.
Arrogance of Nokia + Arrogance of Microsoft? Can't be a good thing can it?

Yes, me. I've had a bellyful of all the chatter of firmware updates.
When it happens, it happens. The date of August has been set but I bet someone will no doubt ask when their phone will receive the update. Then a new thread will get started with the same folks begging Nokia to hurry up and release the update for their product code.
So yes, I'm am thoroughly bored with the update process.
Cheers.

Guess there wouldn't be so many posts here if both original and PR1.2 software were not of so awful quality.
What I'm waiting for from PR2.0 it's not these insignificant new features that are spoken about for so long.
I hope I'll get rid of lags when a call is already ended but none of the buttons react and after several seconds they start to do it all together and I am sent somewhere deep in menu.
I hope I won't face up phone reboot anymore, although to say the truth it doesn't happen every day or week.
I hope there will be some improvement in a face sensor so I won't anymore change dozen of settings by my cheek when talking.
I am waiting at least a little overall performance improvement regarding user interface.
And it's sad that I had to wait for so long.

A lot of complaints about waiting for Anna and Nokia service. I don't get it? Has anyone here ever tried another phone brand?
I have been through many phones, HTC, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, Motorola, Panasonic you name it. If you tried to get any service through those companies, they'll tell you to go through your carrier. Carrier service sucks!
Many calls to my carriers, whether it was Verizon, T-Mobile or AT&T none of them listen to your issue. Instead they make you go through a bunch of steps that you know aren't going to work. Then they conclude that they need to send you to an expert who is still more clueless than you so why are we ever bothering to talk if you don't know anything? Then they may tell you that they need to replace your sim card or something and you wait and wait but it still doesn't fix the issue. The point is, I'll take Nokia service any day.
They have always been available to help, know what they're talking about and fix the issue.
Then regarding the updates, I'll say the phone works pretty good with PR 1.2. so what are you complaining about? Anna will be well worth the wait.
My back up phone, N97 mini just got it's update (albeit a much less significant update than Anna will be) and it is fantastic. It just modernized a 2 year old phone and made it competitive with brand new phones.
What other company is going to give you such major updates to old equipment? They won't because they want you to buy a new one. Nokia is going to continue to update and support the N8 for 4 more years.
All this whining and talking about how people are never going to buy another Nokia phone just because Nokia, while better than any other competitor, has not released the 3rd firmware upgrade (in the phones 6 month history) yet.

Agree to post .by cecampbel
the other brands they include one functionality at a time which was there in N82 and claim they are new feature people like it and run behind it so be it.
Hope Nokia continues symbian beyond 2015/2016 support period.

They mean Firmware Update, but dont take July as a guaranteed time schedule..
Some sofware updates will be available as well

The camera on the N8 is getting an update to give it continuous auto focus for close up video recording and an increased FPS from 25 to 30. So maybe that is whats meant by a Hardware update.
Cheers.

Nokia’s twitter account is confirming that Anna is now appearing on new N8s and new Nokia C7s, with shipping on those handsets already having started.

Hi guys,
thanks for the tweets - I don't know who is responsible for those but they are just not correct. We have NOT started shipments with Symbian Anna yet for N8 or C7.
I'm just checking what happened there at the moment.

pS: Just seen your other question. No, method of carrier approval is still the same, meaning: operators have to test & approve software before we can publish it for their operator specific variants.
