I tried updating my mobile software today and saw that there were two updates available through the Nokia Suite (3.5.34). One was the Calendar update (which updated sucessfully) and the other was the new Social App 1.6.32 . I am having problems installing the latter one. Every time I try updating the Social app it shows the same message on the suite - The update was not completed. Can anyone help me with this problem? How can I update the Social app on my mobile?

I'm experiencing the same problem. I'm going to try to delete and reinstall. hopefully, I'm back in a few minutes

Hi Satty123 and Jellep,

If the update is not working through Nokia Suite, then you may always try updating through SW Update on the phone itself. Uninstalling Social should uninstall associated files, but if there are any left such as Social Facebook Summary, Social Home Screen Widget, Social Installer 1 etc, then you will need to uninstall these as well.

go check out the amount of space on your phone memory not your sd card i mean the actual two hundred and something megabyte memory, free up some space and try it again.

oh and does anyone know about any upcoming updates that may include the slide to unlock feature for the nokia 500 and other devices running on the belle refresh os and older.

Hi Lumi,

Belle Feature Pack 2 is apparently the last major firmware update for Symbian phones along with the Belle Refresh for older Symbian^3 devices. From the looks of things, where application updates contained within Belle Refresh were pushed to devices that have not yet received Belle Refresh (or who will not receive it), support for Symbian is slowing down. From here on in, no major new features or firmware updates are to be expected, perhaps a few application updates and bug fixes. But nothing major like adding features such as the slide-to-unlock that is on FP2 devices.

Hi Everyone,

I read in one of the comments that I should first uninstall all the Social related files on my mobile.I tried doing that but there is this file named Social Installer 1 (size - 2 MB) that I am unable to remove.It always shows the same error - 'Unable to delete file'.Any idea how can I delete it?

And I still  have 41.2 MB free in the Phone Memory (C Drive).

I also tried updating the software using the 'Update Software' option in the menu but still was unsuccessful.It showed some error and asked to retry the installation.This happened everytime.

i was very lucky to find this method. actually it was accidental.i saw this update days ago in software update in phone. it shows "unable to get updates" msg whenever i try to install.

steps:

1. go to settings > installations > already installed > remove social installer 1(version1.06.32)

(it says unable to remove )

2.now open the software updates in phone.

u just have to redownload the new social update again and this time it will get installed in phone.

Thanks. First I am facing problem to uninstall social installer1 as I have installed netquin on my phone. Then I have removed social installer through netquin. Its done. Now new social succefully installed. Thanks again.

I think the whole update problem can be solved quite simply removing any existing social widgets from the home screens. At least that worked for me (after numerous failed attempts to install it via Nokia Suite or updater).
