Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

Monkeys??? How about little Worms! Know nothing... pass on to Nokia who has to pass on to Rogers because this is Rogers' responsibility to the customer.

Blame Rogers! I already left them eons ago...

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

Here's what a Rogers rep sent me regarding Belle: " That's up to Nokia, Rick. We make updates available to our customers after manufacturers make them available to us for testing on our network." So according to Rogers, it's Nokia's fault. Now you know.

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

I was really looking forward to this update, just got my X7 in the summer thinking that Belle would be here soon. I won't be making the mistake of buying a Nokia the next time out.

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

This is extremely frustrating. I used to typical solution to update to the NAM firmware, but I don't like having to do that. One of the reasons I switched from Apple BACK to Nokia was that I hated being charged for major firmware updates. Now I might as well be charged as my time is worth something and the work around takes approximately an hour by the time you research it and do it. I'm debating about getting the replacement for the N8 when it comes out, but I'll wait and see how this update situation goes before buying again...

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

I have a Nokia X7-00 with Rogers, Why can't I get update to Belle. I had an 5800xpressmusic before also from Rogers, and Rogers allows me to upgrade to version 31. Why can we do the same with Rogers on the belle this time?

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

Why do Rogers not allow their Nokia X7 to upgrade to belle? What is the problem of their network. They did allow upgrade on my nokia 5800Xpressmusic to version 31 from the original version 21. What is wrong with them this time?

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

I do believe that it is not Rogers fault for not letting the X7 to get belle because I owned a 5800Xpressmusic and I got updated from original version 20 to 31. So, Rogers did allow update to go through, it is a matter of Nokia who are trying to avoid some kind of technical issues. Since the X7 owners here in Canada is only very small population, so they will not care less.

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

VeePee,

You should not modify the software or hardware of your phone. Doing so might void the warranty of the device, and possibly damage it. Also therefore it is not allowed to discuss about unofficial modifying methods on Nokia Discussions forum.

If you are anxious to get the update, you can contact your local Nokia Care point and ask if they are willing to update your phone.

Hope this answers your question.

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

Hello,

My phone is now out of warranty as it has been past a year.   I also never contact Rogers (my carrier)  for phone support - just for billing.

So, to me - it is of no concern.

I would like to get Belle as it looks sort of cool!  Sad that it will not get updated through the carrier.

But such is life!

Thanks for the info!  Will look into it!

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

Hello I have a nokia x7.00.1 Rogers Wireless and yes there is no update yet for us its not because we are a small population we have to pay for her on one side because as I I told you to buy a phone that has the update so tell me why one thing that apple is still updating its former model to Nokia him but he said no one had the lower model but not the day and has more canada nokia has not even a person who speaks French in addition to its really frustrating when your case is all taken with a 3-year contract your not much choice but after her I think I'll change and we apologize that nokia also said there should be beings etcs patient can be in others as well who think its not because in canada we are a small population that must be abandoned with her so I said we must continue to ask them again and again when his

I'm French Canadian dsl so English I speak not a word :smileyhappy:

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

My first Nokia was a 3110 which I bought in 1998 I believe. I curently have a Nokia 500 on Mobilicity. In the mean time I had at least a dozen different Nokia phones the I really enjoyed. My favorite was probably the 6110. I'm sad to say this will probably be my last Nokia phone. Nokia Canada doesn't seem to care about their customers. Nokia 500 is not even listed on their web site.

So long Nokia, it was good while it lasted.

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

What bothers me most in the Nokia/Rogers partnership is how entirely hands-off both parties are with their customers. The N8 launch by Rogers was the 'first in North America' which spoke to many customers as building more support experience for its clientèle.

Nokia should have made provisions in its branding contract to have the right to supply firmware to handsets that Rogers has stopped distributing and supporting. So when a Canadian customer logs into the system with NokiaSuite, the firmware upgrades could still get pushed forward.

I use NokiaMaps and Anna updates aren't coming any more. Only Belle. So the functionality added with new software updates are specifically blocked to me. I made the particular effort to get an N8 over an iPhone for this service, the great camera, and the otherwise user-friendly GUI .

To be left out of this OS upgrade because Nokia undervalues itself in contract negotiations is unacceptable.

If I get another Nokia phone I'll be buying unbranded/unlocked phones only.

Not only has Nokia limited their ability to serve their customer base properly but they have also alienated otherwise loyal customers.

Re: Update on Nokia Belle for Canada

Good Bye Nokia and Rogers! Welcome Android and Sony E!

I am second to all others here. Nokia X7 is an industrial **bleep** model and just for this there is no at least a Belle update. I always had only Nokia phones for 15 years BUT now it is OVER. Nokia maps and GPS fixing was already a nightmare, a fail on all my Nokias after 6 months use or so all went wrong.

Ps.: my Nokia X7 Rogers went dead while re-installing the software from under Windows8 with Nokia Suite.
