Hi there,
I have a lumia 710 on Talkmobile(Carphone Warehouse UK ) and have not recieved any notifications regarding
the 7.8 update . I checked up on the Nokia Global Support site to see which carriers/operators are rolling out
the update . However , it did not mention the 7.8 update rollout by CPW for the lumia 710 , but instead for the lumia 800 . Perhaps this suggests that CPW will not be rolling out an update to the lumia 710 after all?...unlike Vodafone and O2 which have approved it .
Taking of the 7.8 update and L710 , today T-Mobile USA announced that they will not be rolling out an update to the L710 . So I 'm a little concerned by this because since the update roll out process is 3 weeks long , carriers could potentially pull out this .I'm already frustrated and very disappointed because I have waited 5 months for this . Frankly speaking , this is embarressing for Microsoft because their loyal customers have been treated unfairly and deserve more respect . I feel that that Microsoft need to get their priorities right , to avoid such a thing like this happen in the future . They could learn alot from Nokia ,who have been impressive . They offer excellent customer service and provide some of the best in-house developed apps I've ever seen alongside Apple. Nokia are the true winners here and deserve the praise , despite the OS by Microsoft . THEY CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS .
Anyway back to the point regarding my Lumia 710, if say CPW are not rolling out the update to this device then what should i do?
- Can I get the software update done at a Nokia Care Centre?
-OR can I use windphone hacker - its not the ideal option , but I heard that customers have successfully installed the update without any problems occuring , thats what the owners of HTC Titans said. However I'm not very keen on this , it seems not worth taking the risk . The phone could potentially crash .
- OR keep trying the so called "cable trick" which I believe works , but unfortunately It did not work in my case. tried it several times and simply ran out of luck .
So what would you recommend ?...any advice?
regards

With the amount of shortcuts (zune disconnect tricks) one had to take and compounded by the lack of clarity on a clear date, I am just beginning to wonder whether the update will ever be reaching, if it all it does..
13 years ago I had a Nokia and after that Lumia 800 is the first product from Nokia that I bought.. Rest assured this will be the last ever Nokia, I purchase..

When 7.8 is going to release in India for Lumia 900? Also, will 7.8 resolve Exhange ActiveSync issues?

Is this method valid, would it affect my warranty in any way.

We shouldn't have to do anything to get the update to work. I don't know why they just don't fix it so our phone and our computers know it needs an update. This is ridiculous.

I totally agree with ^ we shouldn't have to do anything to get an update they need to fix the problem as they said its out so they should make sure that it reaches all Lumia owners

Hmm Nokia needs to sort this out with Microsoft, as the Zune software seems to be far to stupid to understand that there are updates available for these devices
My phone is happy on 7.1 and says that it is up to date when the Nokia site says that it is not
Ah well so much for thinking that there was an optiont o update my phone.
And im sorry the post of hacking Zune does not cut it, that is very bad, as if there is such an error then Nokia needs to get Microsoft to fix it and give us a hotfix for zune.

Still no WP7.8 update available for my Lumia 800.
Zune says that my phone is up to date.
Current phone software version: 7.10 (8773).

Enhancements included in the update are provided in the below link.
If the update became available for your device and you updated it but the issue you have with the device is not fixed, you may need to perform a reset. If it didn't help, you will need to take your phone to a repair facility for inspection and possible repair.
@mkr10001,
The update has been made available for all Nokia Lumia devices. If you have been waiting for the update notification for three weeks already, you will need to coordinate with 3 UK as rolling out of the update is subject to their approval.
As I have provided above, you will need to coordinate with Talkmobile. You may try bringing the phone to a Nokia Care Point and inquire if it's possible to update your device on their end. I strongly suggest you forget about your two other options as they are not authorized procedures to update the software or to even force an update to become available for your precious one.
To everyone who has been waiting for the update, any unauthorized procedure of updating the software may cause damage and will invalidate the warranty of your device. Spare your device from any unwanted outcome. Turn on the update notification in your device by going to Settings > Phone Update if you forgot to do that. If the update notification didn't show up on your device within three weeks, the best action is to coordinate with your respective Network Operators (okay, that's the third time I mentioned that).
Cheers. ![]()

Hi jalanara,
The release of the update is still in progress. The best action is still to wait for it.
The Windows Phone 7.8 update is now rolling out for Nokia Lumia smartphones through February. Delivery of the update is operator dependent, meaning you will receive a notification in the coming weeks if you have an unlocked phone or if your operator has approved the update. If you don’t receive the update notification within the next three weeks, please contact your operator for more information

I am also still awaiting the 7.8 update as I wish to see if the bug my phone has with connecting to a Nokia CK100 car kit is fixed, this has been an ongoing issue with Nokia since I changed from an iphone to a Nokia.
Do you know when it will be available for the O2 network?
I too went back to a Nokia after a long time away with the competition, but I am also feeling that Nokia needs to be more pro-active with its updates and user functions of the Lumia 800 etc.
I gave up with the call centre as I felt that they really didnt understand my problem with the phone and the only answer was to reset the phone (didnt work) or go to a Nokia Service Centre (worked but only for 2 days)
I guess I will just have to keep the faith until my contract runs out and then go back to the dark side!
