THE UPDATE LIST
*more icons on shortcut bar
*option to delete search bar at desktop
*in dictionary typing words should be like in contact list and shortcut for changing dictionary
*in theme(option fot changing images every x minutes),where is list of pictures, lsit should be on full screen and not only 3 pictures, it is really horrible to find and select....
*in contact list when click on search should be letters on full screen like when in message(so hidden that 3 icons)
*in gallery when clicking organise there should be option for selecting pictures(not only sellect all or 1) just by 1click on them, now if i want to delete 20 pictures of 100 takes me an hour...
*.AVI support in gom player
*camera smile or text recognising
*in camera disabling picture rotation(when i photo some sheet of papers and then i moved them in computer they were all different rotated. PICTURES should all be the same rotated


for those of you who don't know how to scroll down in contact list... clicking and dragging a button at the right line is fastest and rude, and then if you need to find some1 more precise(like just 10 contacts upper or lower) just do 1 click on the line upper or lower the button.

i have V21 and going to landscape is really faster, so no update is not neccessary, just update your phone to v21.0.025

My Update list would go:

*1) Landscape mode for homescreen. It would go nicely for users like me who like to use thier 5800XM with the stand that comes with it.

*2)Put back the "fade in" and "fade out" transition theme effect when rotating the phone's display like in v20. I really cant understand why Nokia took this out in V21. Its one of the nicest theme effects. New theme effects would be appriecated too.

*3) Fix the internet browser. Its still unfinished. It crashes and hangs at times.

4)Widgets on the homescreen like n97. This would be great.

5) Stop/Play/Pause keys on the mainscreen. If the 5530XM can have it, why cant the 5800XM, the XM flagship model have it?

*6) Fix the landscape menu bug. There is a bug where if you have tons of apps on your menu, in landscape mode, if you would try to scroll down all the way, the last row of apps would be cut off from the bottom.

7)Add 360 rotation if possible. This would be real nice.

8) Shake to shuffle. Most music phones have it, why doesnt the 5800XM have it?

9) When plugging out headsets, pause the music and give an option to continue playback or stop the music. This idea was real handy with my SE W910i.

* - Important updates that shouldn't be too much to ask Nokia.

Let me add one more.

When selecting contact pics can't we have a full screen selector ? it's very tiny and one small scroll take you at the bottom, why can't we have full screen option. I mean c'mon this is a touch screen phone where fingers are used as well, make something that's comfortable, most of the things are so unbarebly small for fingers.

but some times I think why are we even wasting our time. is Nokia even going to listen to their Costumers. ?

Something else I forgot: ringtone selection. I find it really annoying to have all of my songs included in the ringtone selection list. With over 7GB of songs, it takes ages for the list of over 1000 to load, and then finding the song/ringtone I want is dreadfully slow. How about browsing by folder, or adding filters to make it easier?

Come on Nokia, we know you're reading these posts! Get your dev team on our suggestions!

I didn't get it why you asking for option to delete Search from desktop? It's already exists in Menu -> Settings -> Personal -> Home Screen -> Home Screen -> Search

Believe it when it appears, as it also says it could have been put on there just for demonstration purposes.

Still, it won't make the slightest jot of difference to performance.

Here is my own list:

1- Menu button on home screen. I am currently using one of the apps in the shortcut bar as a menu.

2- Music player improvement in home screen to be like 5530.

3- More apps in the shortcut bar, may be by allowing 2 rows of apps.

4- 2 clicks vs 1 click. After more than a month of use, sometimes I wait for the mobile to respond to notice that that action requires 2 clicks. I think if every thing requires 2 clicks it would be better or give the option 2 choose between 3 modes (current, 1 click, 2 clicks).

5- Landscape mode home screen.

6- Bug when scrolling in landscape mode

7- UI improvement:

• When editing a photo the effects don't have labels associated with them.
• Pausing on an item, should open the option menu.
• Menu in grid mode. It think it is a total faliure. It needs labels and it should work the same way as in list mode by using the 2 clicks mode.

5) sometime when I change my home screen to shortcut bar, if I restart my phone it hangs, I have to do a hard reset to get it back to working. Could be a bug in the phone.

6) latest flash player (if possible it should support v10)

7) home screen contact should be able to support sim contacts. I normally only use sim contacts & don't like savng it in the mobile because of formatting my phone many times.

8) how about the video player supporting divx, wmv, avi etc formats. I don't wanna install another app to support it.

9) support for making my wifi connection an adhoc

10) Fm radio without the headset

1.Download themes from some other sites, like zedge or mobile 9 it's not a big issue

2.Same goes for the animated wallpapers

3.You can get an antivirus software free just search

We don't want Nokia to give us minor things that we can find elsewhere from a third vendor. We want them to give us major updates, last time they threw a minor update, we don't want it to be the same this time. For me and I guess for most of us priorities are:

1. Kinetic Scroll

2. Improved/Widgetized home screen or atleast multiple options.

3. Faster and better touch response along with smooth acclerometer actions

4. Update on the Music Player

5. Better Camera

6. Some full screen options e.g while trying to add a contact photo a small option pops out which is difficult to look at and interact

and there are much more................ 

Those are not it, but those certainly make a whole lot of difference in the phone. There are more we're asking but this time I'd be more than happy if Nokia gave us those updates and fixed previous bugs. or is it just because I've stopped hoping something good from Nokia, I just don't expect more.

i like the phone the way it is... but just like anybody out there, i too get greedy!

 i would really love the following changes in the next firmware update:

1. a homescreen similar to that of 5530, where we can have more than 4 contacts , shortcuts and music player on the homescreen...
2. marking and unmarking should be made easier.. its difficult to select every item, then goto options to              mark/unmark it
3. better image processing algorithm
4.  a faster UI
5. a free pdf reader 

but we all know that putting so many things on the homescreen wont allow us to see the calendar anymore on the homescreeen. so i suggest that nokia should make the right comprise somewhere or it should give an option to remove something so we can put the calendar tooo.(for those who need it).

thats alll that i would wish for from the next firmware for 5800 :-)

Looks like some new 5800 firmware has landed in Hong Kong!

The new firmware version is 21.0.101 (up from v21.0.025)

Although it doesn't look like the major update we're all hoping for. It's a 137mb download, and apparently brings speed improvments to the UI and browser. While these are welcome changes, come on Nokia! Get v31 finished, and try and include our suggestions!

Contacts bar on home screen should allow display of calender reminders and search bar.  This is the only reason I don't use the contacts bar. A real shame.
