Hi.
Someone plz help, as i open the updater in Windows Vista, it says the program is not responding.
Iv reinstalled the program, restarted. I dont know what could be wrong.. Im using a N71

I had the following trouble running the installation for the nokia software updater (on win vista)...
"could not access vbscript run time for custom action"

The solution was found quickly by googling and doing this:
1) running command_prompt as administrator
2) cd %windir%\system32
3) regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Try taking off the Nokia PC Suite.
Re-install the Software Updater if you want to.
Restart.
Run the Software Updater.
Using an old version of PC Suite works with it.

1- Install Nokia Software Updater V1.4.39
2- Right click mouse in Software Updater Icon
3- Open compatibility Tab
4- Enable "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
5- Select Windows Xp (service Pack 2)
6- Then Apply, Ok and exit
7- Use this program to update your Nokia phone

I have tried using versio 2.1.0.0 of the updater by running it under Vista being compatible with XP SP2. I still get the message that componants are missing and I have to reinstall. I have sent my system info with product model and code.

Just a note... to get this to work on Vista Business I had to find and run a program in Vista called Program Compatibility Wizard. Then it seems to work for me where the command line vbscript trick didn't.

I am having vista home basic on my laptop and with that the updater couldn't start showing error messege of "nokia service layer host process has stopped working" and then it shows close program and after a very long time of no activity it shows " missing software component. Critical software components are missing please reinstall" so what should i do?

Try this, this was recommended to me by someone else (prodigalsa) and it worked.

 
1. Disable ICS (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Internet Connection Sharing = Disable)
2. Run NSU as Administrator...
