Yesterday (February 10th 2013) i got a notification on my Lumia 800 that "an update is available". excited as hell i connected to my comp immediately and started Zune - NOTHING - the whole day yesterday and up until now i have been checking for an update with Zune - switching my phone off and on again - Switching WIFI and 3G off and on - restarting my comp ... done everything, that notification is GONE. Now........ who do you talk to about this!? - phone nokia (who in my book is the people to talk to) you get poor help and just that its up to the operator (service provider) so PHONE vodacom they dont know WHAT you talking about.!?!?!
in all honesty TOOOOOO many "people" are involved when it comes to the decision making of the software update. be nice to get a response WITH an expected DATE if and when the update will be released...
Also waiting for the update. Dont know when vodacom will be sending it out. Isn't there an alternative, where we could download the update direct from nokia or WP and update it ourselves via zune? Its almost a month now since the update was released.
Is the update for windows phone 7.8 currently Halted? I have read on several blogs that microsoft have halted the update process due to some bugs found in the software, is this true?

People, i have given up to try and get 7.8 on my phone. had a notification TWICE on my Lumia 800 and ONCE on my Lumia 710 that The update is available but when connected to Zune and checking for the update - it just says my phone(s) is up to date...
i had numerous phonecalls to nokia care - wrote them on facebook where i then got in touch with an Escalation Team member and back and forth emailing started. the person then gave instructions to use a different computer and/or a "by pass method" of forcing the update through Zune by clicking Update and after 1-2 seconds you rip your internet cable or wifi dongle etc out and then it will say its available - which it did not. after that failure i then was advised to go a Nokia Care Location as they could do it there. when i found the place and got there (in another town) i was told they cant do it on site they have to send it away to 3rd party company in Midrand (with a name that does not sound like Microsoft or Nokia) and i wll have to wait for up to 10 days maybe more. i was not going to send my phones away - then i was told because i am a vodacom client i can take it to their repair centre down the road. got there and they didnt know what Windows Phone 7.8 was. then they asked me which is the correct update by reading me the OS version number. luckily i knew it 8858 and said thats the correct one so they agreed to do the update and then wanted me to PAY for the update(s) if i didnt say that something is "wrong" with the phone so i said they freeze. when i went to collect my phones an hour later all they did was reinstalling 7.5 (8773) on my lumia 800 which wiped everything i had on it (as they dont do backups) and they couldnt do anything with the 710. i told them that the software on the 800 is wrong and they said sorry thats all it "wanted" to take. woman there looks like she would be better fit to work in a morgue!
so all i/we can do is wait to see if it will ever pop on Zune......

Thanks for the info about vodacom Squirrelpilot. Looks like all we can do is wait. I will let everyone know when I have received the update.
