When checking updates for my phone, 30.2.005 is shown. When I upgrade using NSU or Ovi Suite, 30.2.003 is installed. Then, I am immediately prompted to update again. Each time, 30.2.003 is installed.

The file listing appears to indicate that 30.2.005 is downloaded, but the actual installed files are 30.2.003. I removed all prior downloads. Note how the updater confirms I had installed 30.2.005 even though it installed 30.2.003.

As an update. I completely uninstalled all Nokia Software, removed any file or Directory with Nokia, including in Documents and Settings\*, Program Files. Rebooted. I reinstalled Nokia Software Updater since Ovi is such bloat. It informed me again than 30.2.005 is current for my device, 0592621. It installed properly, I received a Success notice. *#0000# still shows 30.2.003 installed. What is the problem? Software not identified properly? Not updated properly?

I have the same problem and I've tried a lot of times, reinstalling OVI Suite, the drivers, restarting my X6, formatting my X6,.. But nothing works.. And everytime I open the OVI Suite, says that there's a new firmware update (30.2.005) I install it, then OVI says "Your device software has been successfully updated" but when I reconnect my X6 the update firmware notification comes up again!..

I also have reported this (including the link to this discussion) to Nokia through e-mail.

Both Nokia USA and Nokia Brazil acknowledged my report.

That's great, thank you! It would be so much easier if the NSU and related sofrware were simpler and more universal. Why they make a Java-based phone dependent on Windows to update is beyond me. A simple Java application that could run on any platform would be so much lighter and simpler, don't you think?

Correct. No news. I am assuming that the problem fell into a black hole. I am assuming that the XML file was simply not updated prior to release of the production version of the software 30.2.005 and they left the final testing version 30.2.003 in the pull file.

However, since they have a blackbox system of firmware updating, there is no way to modify, update, or manually pull the proper file as far as I can tell.

Maybe they just don't care about the X6 anymore and are focusing all available resources on teh N8?

Same problem, no solution. Nokia is sure taking their time with this.

Maybe they also add the potrait QWERTY back cause I paid for that feature when I bought the phone and then lost it... next phone prolly wont be a nokia.
