Hi I am really confused.  I have a Nokia 6500 classic. I dand followed the instructions and backed my contacts to my sim card.Nnow my phone says the sim is not inserted when it is.  Tried the sim in another phone and it works fine.  please help

are you using an adaptor eg an XSIM ?

Switch off your mobile and remove the bettery and SIM. After 10 minutes, insert your SIM card and bettery and switch on your mobile. Also check that your mobile has set in General profile. If this not work then go to nearest Nokia Care Point and give them your mobile for proper check.

Hi  no i do not have any adaptors just the sim card.  I updated the software.   the next time my phone rang it was registering the number only.  I had lost my contacts.  I had backed these to the sim card so I then transferred the contacts to the phone memory.  this worked but I still could not use these numbers to call or text.  I removed the sim, cleaned it and replace it.  At this point it was saying there was no sim card registered.  When i try to connect the phone to the PC suite it says "access the memory card when complete press done"  I do not have a memory card and the system says it should default to the phone memory. On the PC there sometimes appears the message that files are in transfer.    The the phone does connect eventually but in a non compatible mode.  I do not know how to delete/ stop this transfer of files. I cannot re run/update the download as when I go into the software it says put sim in phone.

When you plug the phone into the pc via USB you should be given a number of options for connection mode, can you list the ones your phone gives

 Have you tried putting another sim into your phone, or putting your sim into a freinds phone

Hi.  My sim works perfectly well in an old phone.  Connections are usb  cable, infrared and bluetooth.  I have not  tried to use a sim from  another person with 02 as yet. I have reinstalled both Nokia PC suite and NSU.  It recognises my phone on the PC suite and I am able to back everything up.  However, I cannot connect to NSU as phone still says no sim inserted.  I managed to sort the message on the phone and  pc  from last night.  This was due to the transfer of files  to media that had not completed.  I did this manually.  No joy with the sim though.  Almost out of options now.  Tried to access the care centre but seems to be a problem with the page.

I was gave you the solution and told you that if it not works then go to your nearest Nokia Care Point. Buddy, go to NCP, they only can solve this.

Does sound like something has broken with your phones contact with the Sim

A visit to a nokia care point for a free warenty reapir is your last option
