E72 - "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer...

E72 - "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer."

I get this message when i want to start up the phone. A few days ago it also had problems to start up: I pressed "on" button untill it vibrates (then it normally starts up) but it didn't do anything, after some tries (around 15) it did start up. Then today the phone just shutted down and wasn't able to start up. And I get the message in the title.

I have tried hard reset (shift, space, backspace + on) but it doesn't do anything.

Or am I doing it wrong? I have the newest firmware for my country (Belgium) and i think its 92.003 but not entirely sure.

The hard reset is about all you can try yourself. It is quite fiddly. Are you sure you did it correctly? You have to press and hold the first 3 keys until the handshake. It normally takes me a few attempts before I get it right. Also try removing the sim and memory cards.

 

If nothing works then you should consider sending it to your local nokia care point.

I tried the hard reset again, but the hands never appeared. I holded down the buttons for 3 minutes...

Or should I hold them down longer?

3 minutes is loads. Does anything happen when you do it? Also make sure the battery isn't flat.

Battery is ok, I charged it 2hours.

Sim and mem card are out of the phone.

I press the buttons, the phone vibrates, i let lose of the power button, white screen appears, nokia appears, and then the screen turns black with backlight of buttons on, and then just black without any backlight of the buttons. 

The message "phone start...." doesn't appear when i do this.

Rmove battery and leave out for a few minutes and try again. If that doesnt work then it is the care point I'm afraid.

Tried that before, argh! And I'm one month out of my guarantee period :smileysad:

BTW, the warranty is 2 years if you are in Belgium.

Yep, the phone is 2years and 1month old.
