Isn't this the thing that was discussed last week? Basically, somebody did a photoshop mock up of their ideal new Nokia and called it tne N96 and this was picked up by some journo who couldn't be bothered to check sources ..?

I could be wrong ..

The specs look enticing. take a look. I think N-96 is a follower of N-93, optical zoom series and N-95 follows N-80. I see a pattern !

Connectivity: 802.11bg/UPnP/HSDPA/EGSM 850/EGSM 900/EGSM 1800/EGSM 1900(No clue as to what bands of HSDPA, though it's not like they've been particularly good at being US friendly...)

Weight: 135g

Display: 352*416 pixels, 2.8 in. TFT 16 mil colors (I thought they were giving up on the 352*416 res?)

Memory: MicroSD (looks like Nokia's finally sticking with a standard), 512MB built-in

Bluetooth: 2.0 + EDR + A2DP

Camera: 6MP Carl Zeiss w/ Autofocus, Video (VGA 30fps), Xenon flash (still), LED flash (video), 4x Optical Zoom, 20x Digital Zoom (Supposedly will also have a Secondary cam for Video Calls, 1MP w/ 4x Digital Zoom and VGA video)

GPS Built-in

3.5mm Audio Output Jack, 3D Stereo Speakers, TV Out, Digital Radio

Oh my god-is it true!
I am totally agree with Babdi.
N96 is the successor of N93 or N93i.
And N95 is for N80.
But now it seems N96>N95>N93i
But now the question is is it also making iPhone to be defeated?
I gotta wait.
Til then I am happy with my N91.

Re: Is it possible?....N96?

I'm still not sure I believe this - the spec sounds too much like somebody's wish list for what the N95 should be. Would be a great phone though.

The iPhone techie backlash seems to building steam: everybody seems to agree that it'll sell really well, but they all say that the spec really doesn't stack up against the latest Nokia and Windows smartphones.

Shame really: a competitor like apple might have shaken some of the apparent complacency out of the current players. The rush to market with the N- and E-series phones really does show ..

Nokia is walking on moon with light steps not knowing the debris
( non-functioning phones )shadows Nokia closely. The fact remains
that despite so much of problems facing N series, N-73, N-93 Nokia is complacent to customers' problem. This shows Nokia is too confident of itself and therefore can bully its customers.

No matter how fantastic the specs of N-96 maybe many many are bitten badly with Nokia phones and nursing the wounds

Frankly I dont see N-95 taking off and doing well in the market.

Again N-96 with lofty specs is only going to make this forum hot
with unthinkable problems with the phone.

Honestly I would not touch another Nokia phone till problems with N-93 are set right.

I trust many would agree

Same for me, will see it for 2 or more weeks. It's con (to me)is it only inherited the dual sliding mechanism from N95/8GB while it almost looks like N81 which I never liked. But FP2, Dedicated audio and video DSP, dual LED, video decoration etc are still temptating.

I find the design and features of n96 very tempting but i've found the n95 8gb to be brilliant. It is so user friendly. I've had no real problems with it. The n96 would have to be much much better for me to be tempted.

Re: Is it possible?....N96?

N96 Pluses against the N95 8GB

* 16 GB on board + uSD card for additonal 16 GB (possible) or more
* micro USB connector and USB 2.0 HS (High speed) 10x faster than N95
* WMV support
* H264 VGA @ 30 fps (N95 only does QVGA)
* Hi-Fi sound like N91 (of course you can be happy with N95 sound but I'm not)
* Front facing Audio/Video controls, which allows you to control the music while doing other stuff, like browsing.
* DVB-h (I know this only matters if you have service)
* Slimmer design
* Better camera/Dual flash (but we need to wait and see)
* S60 FP2 (new features, new UI for applications)
* kickstand for easy viewing of video (cute little feature)
* GPS antenna in better position for better satellite reception
* scroll wheel navigation

Of course one could argue these are not enough upgrades.

640K Should be enough for everybody
