Nokia 808 on ATT's network (straight talk customer)

All,

I love my Nokia 808! However I can't seem to get MMS or internet working right. I purchased a straight talk plan, which uses ATT's network. They gave me a list of settings, and I can't seem to figure out how to put them  in correctly.

Unfortunately after spending about 45 mins on the phone with straight talk, I've concluded that their tech support staff are just barely smarter than the average houseplant. (They were completely clueless) Here is what I have to work with.

Create new APN:

Name: Straight Talk

APN: att.mvno

Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com

Port: 80

MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com

MMS Port: 80

That's it. There is not even fields for all of these settings from what I can see. Is there anyone here using ATT's network, or Straight Talk for that matter? How did you get it working?

Thanks,

Ryan

Re: Nokia 808 on ATT's network (straight talk customer)

I am having the same situation with Consumer Cellular who also uses the AT&T network.

My wife's white 808 (US warranty) does connect to 3.5G (software version 112.020.0310)

My black 808 (grey market) cannot connect to 3G           (software version 112.020.0309)

I cannot update the software however, it says "No update available).

I see your link and have read that. However I am not able to do what they describe in the link. I have no option to choose to enable packet data. And I cannot select anything I create as an MMS provider the in message settings.

Re: Nokia 808 on ATT's network (straight talk customer)

PROBLEM FIXED!

Straight Talk customers looking to get MMS and Internet BOTH working on the Nokia 808, here is what you need to do.

1. Factory reset (Not sure if necessary, but then we have a common baseline)

2. Delete ALL old APN data

3. Add a new Internet Access point called "Straight Talk". Fill out the fields as follows:

     *Connection Name: Straight Talk

     *Data Bearer: Mobile Data

     *Access Point name: att.mvno

     *Username: None

     *Prompt Password: No

*Password: **** (I never entered anything here)

     *Authentication: Secure

     *Homepage: None

     GO UNDER THE SETTINGS BUTTON

     *Network type: IPv4

     *Phone IP address: Automatic

     *DNS addresses: Automatic

     *Proxy Server Address: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com

     *Proxy port number: 80

That SHOULD get your internet working. Verify that it is before continuing.

Now for MMS

Under Network Destinations

1. Click "Access point" (add new access point) You can choose the icon to be whatever you want

2. Type the name as "Multimedia"

3. Inside the Multimedia Network destination page, click on the "+" icon.

4. Hit yes for "automatically check......"

5. Name it "Straight Talk MMS"

6. Enter the connection info as follows

     *Connection Name: Straight Talk MMS

     *Data Bearer: Mobile Data

     *Access Point name: att.mvno

     *Username: None

     *Prompt Password: No

*Password: **** (I never entered anything here)

     *Authentication: Secure

     *Homepage: http://mmsc.cingular.com

     GO UNDER THE SETTINGS BUTTON

     *Network type: IPv4

     *Phone IP address: Automatic

     *DNS addresses: Automatic

     *Proxy Server Address: 66.209.11.33

     *Proxy port number: 80

You're almost done! Now go to Settings > Application Settings > Messaging > Multimedia message

It will have a field where you can enter in "Access Point in use". Choose "Straight Talk MMS".

Now verify that your MMS works. Send yourself a picture.

Good luck!

Hi, would you happen to know if joikuspot is working for you on straighttalk? You seem to have both the US and foreign variants. I'm looking to the 808 as my last symbian device but am hesitant.

Re: Nokia 808 on ATT's network (changes to try for net10)

I couldn't get these to work with my 808 and net10, however it gave me enough info to figure it out. only

the things I changed are listed.

data connection:

access point name: wap.tracfone

proxy server address: 66.209.11.32

proxy port number: 80

mms connection:

access point name: wap.tracfone

homepage: http://mmsc.cingular.com

proxy server address: 66.209.11.33

proxy port number:80

then choose the mms connection you created as xsnapshot described.

Re: Nokia 808 on ATT's network (changes to try for net10)

Do any 808 Net10 users have the new ATT APN's in their phone?  Any chance someone could post exactly what they have in their APN's here.

I just activated an 808 and have data using the following APN:

Name: net10

Access point name: tfdata

all other boxes unchanged....

However mms isn't working...
