Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

My VOIP service provider ask me for following setting..
SIP port : 5060
Registrar : sip.voipwise.com
Proxy server : sip.voipwise.com
Outbound proxy server : leave empty
Account name : your voipwise username
Password : your voipwise password
Display name/number : your voipwise username or voipnumber
Stunserver (option) : stun.voipwise.com

In phone setting becomes as sip:sip.viopwise.com
Is this normal do our problem lies in this change?

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

Hi Mr. Sriyaz,

Is it possible to register your SIP service, or not at all
configuring the Phone?
Have you tried fring for voip calls?

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

Not connecting.
I registered with one more VoIP service provider. www.tpad.com
they send setting based on model via sms we just need to save the setting.
I saved bust still not working. it means E51 has some problem.

Thank you for your offer to help.

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

Hi sriyaz,
before you connecting, make sure you are connected to WLan or 3G Data plan. There is a symbol will present on screen.
Your settings are looking correct. If U try fring, then you will know if anything wrong with Nokia SIP settings.

Hi All,

Voip and Fring both are working very well in E51 and E65.

Here is how to configure your phone:

Replace Voipdiscount by your voip provider.

Profile name: voipdiscount
Service profile: IETF
Default access point: Default Wlan or any (Could be changed)
Public user name: sip:xxxxxx@voipdiscount.com
Use compression: No
Registration: Always On (could be when needed though)
Use security: no

Proxy server
Proxy server address: sip.voipdiscount.com
Realm: voipdiscount.com
User name: xxxxxx
Password: *******
Allow loose routing: Yes
Transport type: UDP
Port: 5060

Registrar server
Registrar serv. addr: sip.voipdiscount.com
Realm: voipdiscount.com
User name: xxxxxx
Password: *******
Transport type: UDP
Port: 5060

Menu>Tools>Connect>Internet.Tel>Options>Settings>Preferred Call Type> Internet Call
Voipdiscount Setting>Login Type>Manual
Saved Conn.Networks

Fring

Fring > Options > Settings > Connection Manager > Settings > Wifi-Only
Fring > Options > Settings > Configure Services > Sip >Other

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

Thanks a lot. I live on the other side of the world (Brazil) but also bought this phone exclusively for the VOIP features. I was going mad with VOIP/SIP not registering even though WIFI was working perfectly, and opining these ports on my firewall solved it.

However, now that I understand what is going on, I agree with the rest of you that this is not a real solution, as it would require reconfiguring every router/firewall in town!

Looks like NOKIA is not really trying to offer a real VOIP solution (after all, cell phone manufacturers are always concerned about telephone company retaliation if they start promoting VOIP too much).

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

Dear Egypt,

These settings are correct, and I registered to SIP service, but when you make a call to anumber it showing that "callingxxxxxx@sip.xxx.net. and no ringing tone heard.
after that message shows "Connection Error".
I think some thing wrong with Nokia settings.
If Fring works with One Username, Password & Proxy Number of the SIP service, Why Nokia Makes so many complication to make settings
of Profile, Proxy, Registrar, Internet Telephone.
It should have to solve the issues with new Firmwire update...
Thanks & regards,

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

Hi Afthar,

voip is working very well on E51.

- Make sure when you dial a number that it's international format
0044xxxxxx or with +44xxxxxxxx

if it doesn't work try to add sip. to the realm as follwoing:

sip.voipdiscount.com in both proxy and registar configuration

Good luck

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

Hi Afthar,

I think,I can help you. In my opinion Nokia E51 has problem with dumain addresses. Try to owerwrite all name addresses in your SIP account subsequently (to number addresses).
For instance
Public user name: sip: XXXXXX@voipdiscount.com
owerwrite to sip: XXXXXX@YYY.YYY.YYY.YYY
where YYY.YYY.YYY.YYY is number address of voipdiscount.com.

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

The only solution is to setup an account in voipdiscount and see if it works.

Maybe your provider doesn't accept your sip connection through the mobile and without their software?

mine is working with voipdiscount really great.

with 10 euro in your account it gives you 120 freedays to call for free all landlines in europe usa and many countries
for 300 minutes per week and also they have very good rates for other destinations:

check this list for all prices and also other voip providers:

http://www.backsla.sh/betamax

Good luck

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

Hi Egypt,
Thanks for your reply.

I think it is not problem with Sip account.
because I have nonoh.net account which is similiar SIP settings of voipdiscount.com. All settings for SIP profiles are same. (If you check both sites you will understand).
But call rates will be different.
I am living in Qatar- Middle East, so the problem may be with Internet provider . But I can make call through nonoh. dialler or Web dialler using my PC.

If anybody can provide a better solution it will be appreciated. I am also searching for better solutions.

Re: Nokia E51 SIP problem. (can't connect to voip network)

I have been trying all the advice in this thread with no success. Strangely enough I can connect to Gizmo but not to any other SIP service. I cannot even get the phone to register with my pbxes.org account, which was working perfectly with my E60.

I know my account settings are correct because Fring registers perfectly. It is something about the E51 SIP client.

Next step will be to change my product code and upgrade to the new firmware. But that is kind of drastic and I don't really want to end up with a Vodafone branded handset...

Please help.
