The same with my E6. I got it back....with the same keymat!!!!!!:/!! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE???!!! They gave me a new front,too but i need a new keymat. the service manager say that they havnt got new keymats....I gave them my number and now I have to wait....!!
I thing thats the end..E6 is for sale now

On 01-Nov-2011, almost 5 months ago, a Nokia employee posted the solution on this thread:
"The notification light being too dim problem is fixed by an improved keymat version. The solution is about to come available in the Nokia Care points soon. The Care points will be informed about this solution within a couple of days from now and they will then be able to help you in getting the problem fixed. It should be noticed that there are still delays before the improved keymat version is available in all Care points globally, so they might not be able to provide immediate fix in all countries."
and the issue is set to 'Solved'. However, at least 2 people here get their E6s back from Nokia Care after weeks, with the problem still unresolved. Quite obviously, informing the Care points does not work well enough. 5 months should be enough to get that done.
Of course it is understandable that Nokia removes offensive language from posts. But seeing that removing profanities is the ONLY response from Nokia instead of addressing the problem, is really, really frustrating.
It seems that all that Nokia does is draw out things for so long that the warranty expires on devices, such that they don't have to fix things at all.
Pioter is right, it is necessary to supply the Care point with the needed part number. Strange as it may be, the customer has to do the homework for the Care point.
As the Nokia employee wrote: "The Care points will be informed about this solution within a couple of days from now.." most likely that was email, and if all went well it was read by at least one of the employees of the Care point, who may or may not have informed colleagues, or it got buried under an avalanche of other emails about fifty other phone types and a gazillion other issues. That is never going to result in truly good customer service.
Another problem for customers who bought the phone via a mobile service provider, is that they have no direct contact with Nokia Care and depend on the accuracy of the person working the providers' service desk in taking down the details, and have to rely on another person at Nokia Care on reading all the way through the supplied details. In todays fast-paced competitive world.. I don't think that happens a lot.
Still the solution of this notification problem is to buy the application RemindMe from Nokia store.
I think Nokia could make the application free for E6 owners that having problem with this issue.
The only thing you can do is to send an email to nokia care and hope for a Goodwill gesture from Nokia.
We sending now emails to Nokia Sweden and demand an answer.
But anyhow, if you cant live without clear notification light right now, buy RemindMe and no more problems with this...it works all the way for missed calls and sms/mms on E6.
3 choices, 1. contact Nokia care in your country or 2. buy RemindMe or 3, keep sending in the device for replacement
Before I pay my hard earned 55 Danish kroner and install the full version of RemindMe can you tell me why it only gets three stars - apart from the obvious lack of the improved D-pad?
I received my Nokia E6 from the Nokia Care Shop (Greece) after 15 working days.The didn't install a new keymat.They told me that they replaced the LED light underneath the D-pad.The truth is that the result is poor!In a room with normal light conditions there is absolutely no chance to see the notification light.I can't really understand why Nokia follows different solutions around the world for the same problem!I am really dissappointed!

I got my E6 with a brand NEW KEYMAT back!!
They needed just few hours but after the third time I got a functional notification light!
All others have to copy the partCode and give it to the Care points.
Some CarePoints dont know that there is a new Keymat aviable!!
Now its working fine!! Really!!
I am waiting still for fixing the EMail notifications and an @ icon near the clock but thats only a sofware bug!!
That is good news. What was the code for the new keymat? Nokia Care in Denmark say they are unaware of the fault and have twice suggested I just send my phone off to a Care Point. Previous postings here show that that doesn't always work.
Last time I sent a phone in for repair it spent a month in the Czech Republic (no criticism of that great nation, just that it's a heck of long way to send stuff from the Nordic region), so I'm not doing that again without knowing 100% that it _will_ be fixed and when.

Try this out, or first contact Nokia Denmark and tell them the name of your Care point. They should give some infos to their Care point.
My news arent so good right now, because I had to give my phone back to the care center because they changed the keypad not good enough- some keys dont work well(I thing they put the keyboard not in the right place, maybe only 1mm difference, I couldnt press some letters), and then I saw that they demaged my phone a little bit near the ON OFF button :/
I thing that they opened my phone too hard:/!!!
I dont know how it is possible at NOKIA Care Center....:/!!
I took some makro pictures of the phone and now I will wait how the Care point will act, if good for me, then ok I wouldnt do nothing, but if they wont repair my phone I will write some Emails to NOKIA with pics etc.
I went to Nokia Care in Sri Lanka and they were not aware of the problem and they were still selling E6-00 with this same broken keypad. In fact they were unaware that E6 has something called a Notification Light under the D-pad!!! They offered me exactly the same keypad I have for roughly $18.
Please Nokia. Please notify Nokia Care in Sri Lanka about this problem.
Why is it that Nokia customer services completely blank what i ask them? I specifically asked them for part numbers and HOW my local Nokia care centre will know anything about this topic. Instead they just sent me some phone numbers. Nokia - can you actually do what we paid you for when we bought your handsets?
i called again to Nokia Service Center that in Argentina is in Buenos Aires. So, they didn't knew anything about a problem with the notification light also the fixed improved newkeymat.
I went to my nokia care point here in my city (santa fe) with the code of my phone keymat part (I0001 9793N40 QWERTY KEYMAT ASSY BLACK SPANISH and a pics of the new keymat,
This is the second time i sent my phone to Nokia, i hope it'll be the last one, and Nokia take care about the problem...

I have sent my E6 for repair (three times) to exchange the key mat, specified the part number, but got it back unrepaired all three times. The light is still hidden under the D-pad key and only visible in complete darkness.
Then I installed RemindMe (free version). This doesn't work, nothing ever happens. The app is enabled. Phone has been hard-reset, rebooted, reformatted, and reinstalled many times but that makes no difference.
According to this post here: http://ne6t.wordpress.com/2011/08/16/remindme-app/ you have to change the settings, but I can't find any settings in RemindMe, only a button for "enable" and "disable".
Is there a paid version, and does that have user configurable settings? Or are the settings in a file somewhere?

I had sent my E6 to the Nokia Repair Center in the UK. You find the process online: http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/troubleshooting
Nokia has outsourced the service to a global company which services/repairs phones for all kind of producers.
Very easy, great to track and free as long as the phone is under warranty.
I included a photo of the correct D-pad.
I can highly recommend the service.
Keep in mind: the notification light only flashes when a text message has arrived, not for an email!
